I think the team will win 4-7 games next year portal or no portal. 7 wins would be more impressive than the 9 this year, actually way more impressive.

I think it’s pretty clear that Syracuse is still currently underfunded to truly compete. We have arguably the best 2-3 recruiters in the country and still aren’t there. Why is that?

Honestly it’s been weird to see two or three of the top recruiters in the nation have a 10 win season then not get any splashy singings from the 40 kids we’re bringing.

I think the 26 class will blow our first two classes out of the water. Were involved with a lot of highly rated kids.

Didnt mean it in a harsh way. I did hear him say that about the recruits but u cant say u wanna win a championship without the players to do it. You surely cant rely on freshmen to help u. Yes we may getSamuel to play and a few others but we need Speed, Strength, and experiance which is the key i feel. If we dont see some good guys in portal and i mean a few not a lot then its gonna be ugly. Is what it is honestly. He has great ideas without great funds lol. Wish i was a millionare.

I am not so sure about Maryland passing on Garcia. I think this Maryland insider article is open to the public. Looks like he passed on a visit.

Guessing whoever saw that Maryland passed on him was a shill trying to save face for the troubled Terp program. They hit rock bototm this season going 4-8 in a weak B1G, and even lost badly to Rutgers.

No problem. You can't rely on freshman but guys that that have worked their way up the depth chart, 2nd and 3rd year types. Sure you are going to add a few pieces but not every position of "need" has to be filled with a portal guy as the coach has indicated with not being overly involved in the portal. I am not saying he's right or wrong, just the way Fran is going about it. I think everybody would like a portal off season like last year but clearly that isn't going to happen probably by design or lack of funds. Either way, it's not going to happen.

Next year's schedule is what it is and I think expectations should be getting to a bowl, but that's me. I think it could be a very tough year. Who knows?

Me thinks all these kids who are supposed to visit us but don’t even make it here means our NIL money is in limbo until Kyle decides what he is doing. Yes Fran said it would be a quieter portal year for us but kids are scheduling with us and not coming, been happening a lot

I go back to what I have been saying. I do not think it is a nil issue minus some sec and B1g schools. Fran is not going to over pay for portal or high school players. He will spend most of the money on retention and development of the current players. It’s more than about paying for the highest rated players in the portal. It’s about culture and fit. I feel he believes he can develop players provided they have certain measurables. It is the reason for the focus on high school players or portal players with multiple years of eligibility that do not want unrealistic nil.

Makes sense. But i'm not sure i would use the term unrealistic if they are getting it. We don't have as much NIL as quite a few schools apparently as it is getting rather crazy. I'm sure he knows players are going to want decent NIL but he doesn't want the kids where that is the #1 priority in their decision making. Just seems odd we are not even getting the visit. We give the kid the offer so we are interested.

So are kids getting NIL numbers upfront before making visits to guide them in which visits they take first? They like the school and the school tells them if you commit to us now this is our offer, if you leave and go on other visits its off the table. Since its more money than SU offers they commit on the spot?
