Has nothing to do with landing him. It’s a big win to first get the OV when the mentality was not a chance. But this also extends to the 2 LBs and keeping Nunn.

Reality thinking or about having some faith?
Faith? When did recruiting become faith based. We all want him badly. I just don't need to project emotions into the future about a 17 yr old college decision. I'm hoping, I'm wishing, I'll be happy if he does, sad if he doesn't. Isn't that enough?

It didn't become faith based and I never said it did. I should've ignored your first reply to begin with since you were so far off base with what I originally said.

Simply put you can either choose to be pessimistic or positive. Nothing more nothing less.

On 2 47, if he were to commit today, we'd jump from class rank of 57 to 39.
Does our ranking count the studs arriving in January or the Canadian recruits? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "stars" are irrelevant. They aren't. But I wonder whether composite "rankings" are less reliable, since they're based on limited/absent ratings of Canadian players and don't reflect all our recruits.

They do have all 14 kids listed in our rankings. We are so low because of having a really small class.

There's really something to the snowball effect. One kid comes on board and it starts a rush. It's like every other fad or fashion. The Edelin recruiting class is one example of this that immediately comes to mind. I know it's basketball but we've seen it in football too. I just can't remember any specific examples because we've been so bad for so long.

It would be nice to immediately capitalize on the national buzz the way Brohm has at Purdue. It will help us keep Babers too.

Junior Onyeali was a beast his first few years of college. Unfortunately he was a beast off the field and beat up his girlfriend and was thrown out of school.
I was the RA at Arizona State on the floor above his in San Pablo Hall. He got kicked off campus for coming after me when I stood between him and terrorizing my residents. I roomed with an SU lacrosse player on south campus as an undergrad, and their antics were quite tame compared to the ASU football kids.

He wouldn't have lasted a single semester with Marrone. Maybe not even a week. Best recruiting loss ever.

I've definitely seen the snowball effect happen at other schools.

Marrone recruited that program pretty hard in Colorado with not much to show for it. Jonny Miller was a complete washout and looks like we dodged a major bullet with Junior. Also we were after a WR that went elsewhere and I don’t think he amounted to much at the college level either.

oh man, forgot about Miller, hope that kid got his life together. armed robbery is really not a good way to start your adult life.

I always liked the big running back from Colorado although he didn't show much

Can I get an Amen?

Rankings are always hit or miss but it always seems like the NY guys are even harder to rank based off weak comp. May be the reason so many highly rated guys did not live up to the rankings in NY. /QUOTE]

NY kids,no matter how talented, are usually raw and need coaching. They go to these factories where it's much easier to recruit over them than to put the time and effort into maximizing their potential. They need to stay home for their own best interest. They will get the help they need here.

Yeah I forgot about him. Came in way out of shape and took years to get to the point where he could play. At least he did end up playing unlike Miller.
