Dean Francis new podcast out there...

I don't really have a problem with that even though I'd prefer it not the case. Where I can see as a continuous issue is when the information has become known outside the pay site. It's similar to plagiarism. No need to quote when the information has become common knowledge (so to speak).
If the info is out there anywhere for free, all's fair in love and war.

But that's the tricky part. When exactly does it constitute as out there everywhere. A ton of gray in that.

Dean has been in the game for a long time and has a vast network. He's going to put out what's coming to him and of course some will be swing and misses. If our staff is blindsided every two months, how can anyone's info be 100%? Take it for what it is. He's giving you the info he has and knows to be accurate. If it's not enough for you than log off and let us enjoy.

We have the option to pay for the podcast or not pay for it. Personally, I chose to sign up for the podcast because I found Dean’s information and option engaging and insightful. It’s fun to listen to regardless if he’s wrong or right.

Also, whatever “info” I received from this board that I thought was “insider” went away a year ago. Take that for what it’s worth.

Couple questions:

Will playing the zone 100% of the time hurt Duke in recruiting?? Didnt seem to hurt them this year in recruiting.

Did we play the style we did because that is what JB wants or is that the style of play we played because of personnel we have??

I do agree we need to do a better job of keeping the program depth players like Moyer and that is on the coach. And we need to do a better job of targeting players that want to be here.

Duke didn't play all zone all the time for the entire season. Early in the season they were bad m2m and bad zone before they went only to zone.

I think our biggest issue is that our staff may not be the best at connecting with todays kids. Now that the FBI has hopefully evened the playing field and sanctions are no longer an issue lets see what Red Griff and G can do. We are going to have 5 or more ships available. Abundant playing time on one of the top brands in all of basketball. The biggest crowds in the game. The ACC Network and of course our own HOFC. If we cant recruit now something is seriously wrong.

As far as the style of play is concerned, the dude should've done his due diligence before committing. That's on him. I also don't think we'd be playing 53-50 rock fights if he wasn't on the roster. I still don't think we'll be doing that.
If every recruit did their “due diligence” and studied our offense, we’d be competing with Pittsburgh and Colgate to get verbals.

And last I checked, most high level recruits are not looking to rescue and “fix” a damaged offense. These aren’t chicks trying to fix a guy.

Lol. That last sentence put a legit smile on my face.

I would like less basketball takes from you, and more takes on the merits of Onondaga Lake vs Puget Sound.

We've had several guards commit here because they like the offense.

At the end of the day, offensive philosophy is one thing, but you need the players to run it successfully.

Our offense last year was pretty good overall I feel.

Well said.

I also find it odd that there's not a single mention of Griff in that last pod - he was (apparently, from what I've heard/read) the one that made the commitment possible at all and went way way back with DB and his family...

When Dean says something about recruiting, like who we sure targeting or whatever, it is considered great info. When Dean says something about JB or the staff and how they are operating, suddenly Dean is a hater and just spouting speculation.

Funny how that works. It's ironic that his biggest critics are people who claim to be insiders (and clearly aren't) and people who rip him at the drop of the hat but still subscribe to his podcasts.

Hypocrisy.

It's not hypocrisy. It's called having a brain.

Information is only as good as the source you get it from. Dean and I have communicated for years going back to Julius Hodge. My reason? I was always getting my information from within the program. My impression was that Dean was getting some info from AAU types (though he NEVER revealed anything about his sources to me).

So sometimes I wanted to get a view from the AAU side to get a feel for a situation. I always knew that was my "blind spot" and putting both of those perspectives together often provided me with better insight.

Everyone has a blind spot...and usually others see it before you do. So I have no problem with people cherry picking what they choose to believe. Otherwise it's hero worship.

However, I would never go on a message board and rip Dean. That's wrong. He has provided our fan base with great information for years and I have much respect.

Are some people discounting an opinion because it's not what they want to hear? Sure. But many of them are smarter than you are giving them credit for..

It’s not about having skepticism about certain things; I’m referring to people who rip him but listen.

So it’s either one or the other? One can’t listen, be skeptical about some stuff while valuing other aspects?
It’s the hero worship, as Jake makes reference to, that’s my biggest issue

That’s not what I meant. I take an issue with people who do nothing but rip him... and listen. Why do those people listen if they think what he does provides no value?

Maybe they want to be included in a new diss track?

Hey Francis03 if you're listening it's been a while since you ether'd fools. Any chance of bringing that back?

Who's ripping who? Has Dean really gotten ripped? Just seems that might be a bit over the top continuing to use that word. ;)
There is a certain poster here, who has been doing that over at his site, whom he has problems with.

During the last 10 minutes, it was mentioned that we (SU) should have NOT recruited the kid, that we (SU) should know better.
That is just stupid. Show me a single post anywhere since July of 2017 where anyone including D states we should not have gone after DBAZE.

I thought the info was great until blaming the staff for taking a risk on a 5 star kid and i do not recall seeing the experts on here claiming to classify it as a risk

Hence Monday Morning QB

Exactly right. Its pure opinion after everything has played out. very easy to offer opinions and direction to the staff (the real experts) after all is known
