Demetres Samuel Jr

Another great showing for the Samuels—he keeps improving week after week. I’d love to see him get snaps on offense, but I know next season will be his time. Samuel is turning into a true freshman All-American corner and a star at that position. I can’t wait to see even more improvement from him.

Tough to play both ways in games where you are really needed on D. But really where is he playing on O right now anyway ahead of guys who are playing well.

I’d love to see him in screens or a gadget role—he can really create plays with the ball in his hands. I just want him to get some game reps at wide receiver as well.

If he gets hurt playing on O that would be like losing two players at once. Would really hurt the D.
As long as he's not getting run down, I don't think you can worry about that. He could get hurt playing defense too.

Samuel’s Jr. has been impressive with how strong he is as a tackler. When a ball carrier gets near him, they usually go down right away—breaking tackles against him just doesn’t happen. He plays with a toughness that’s rare for a corner, and it really shows in the way he defends the run.
What stands out most is how consistent he is. He takes smart angles, doesn’t miss many opportunities, and when he makes contact, he finishes the play. That’s huge for Syracuse’s defense because it shuts down quick screens and outside runs before they can turn into big gains. Instead of giving up extra yards, Samuel’s Jr. makes sure those plays end immediately.
He’s proving to be more than just a cover guy—he’s a reliable, physical defender who adds a real edge to the secondary. Watching him week after week, it’s clear he’s becoming one of the most dependable players on the field for Cuse.

He could get hurt in the weighroom
He could get hurt falling out of bed
He could...

Injuries happen, can't bubble wrap players. If he is going to help the team on both sies then play him on both sides.
Currently I think he is just a DB with our current talent at WR.

By my count we had 3 playing both ways so far. Simmons, Samuels and Tremble have taken snaps on both sides of the ball.

Definitely a positive problem but you can for sure pitch against people poaching our players. Especially if the players are happy AND playing here. Example players like Peña, Deuce, Jahad Carter and Watson. Happy here and played early. All 4 were studs here and well on their way to being draft picks. As they were being developed the right way here. They chose to leave for money. Peña is playing So-So. Definitely had a better season here last year so far. Deuce hated his time at LSU and came back and is a cornerstone of our defense. Jahad left and was basically never seen again. Watson is tbd but isn’t getting nearly as many snaps at Texas this year as he would here.

Then you have an abundance of guys that CHOSE to stay here and develop. Outperformed their recruiting rankings and make NFL rosters. All recently you had Iffy, Cisco, Garrett Williams, Trill, Bergeron, Tucker, Lequint Allen, Zaire, Wax, OG, Alijah Clark, and Barron. All in recent years had options to leave for more money. Hell McCord had options with more money but chose to come here. The point is, you can choose to leave here and not properly develop and your NFL chances are likely gone based on past experiences. OR you can choose to stay here, for a little less money. Properly develop and you’ll have as good a shot as making a roster on Sundays than any other school. And past experiences prove that as well. The choice is there’s. Immediate money. Likely 6 figures but your Dream of the NFL is iffy. Or you can still get paid here at Cuse. Not as much, you develop for a couple years but you get your dream of the NFL, 6-7 figures on an NFL roster. For more than a year. Even if you are on practice squad
Trill is now Trill London trying out for the WWE. He is doing well on the reality show LFG trying to win an NXT contract.

I think next year could be the year for Demetrius Samuels Jr. to make a major impact as a wide receiver. With JRS and Amari off the team, he’ll have a much better chance to step up and catch passes from whoever the quarterback is—most likely Steve. Right now, his impact on offense is limited, but I can see him running with the 1s and 2s next season. Given the opportunity, he has the potential to become a key weapon in Syracuse’s passing game.

I love that Samuel and Peal are just not cocky dudes either. They were making play after play in Man 2 Man. A quick high five from the teammates then back to work.

Meanwhile you saw Clemson DB's celebrating like they won the game every time they broke up a pass. Saw several times Clemson DB's thought they made the play and started celebrating but our ballers caught the ball inbounds.

Samuel LOVES Fran and Cuse. It’s gonna be put to the test this off-season cause this kid is going to have every school offering a bag to him. He’s a sure fire NFL player assuming he stays on this path.

It’s awesome to think what we have in Samuel, Peal, Kerr and Long in the secondary. All 4 of these dudes are studs and have at least 2 years left. Just awesome if they stick around

Yes Long has been playing great, has made some mistakes, but always seems to be around the ball making plays
The whole group is going through growing pains. Solid stats other than total yds, they have faced a ridiculous amount of attempts against. Lots of PI’s from everyone. But they also make plays and good open field tacklers.

Local business’ need to step and jump on how much fun a commercial would be for someone like Demetres, who plays both ways. I can’t believe I didnt see it used with Travis Hunter more.
Off the top of my head, a car dealership would be an easy one.

“Hi, I’m CB/WR Demetres Samuel Jr. and I learned early on that balance on both sides of the ball, is what makes winning teams”

Cut to Demetres talking to a wife:
“Girl, he said what? Oh no, you tell him you wear the pants and you gonna pick the car and that’s final!”

Cut to Demetres talking to husband:
“Bro, you a grown man! You just got to let her know you the one makes the big decisions.”

Cut back to Demetres:
And that’s why I shop for my Vehicles at *Dealership*. Where everyone on your team feels like a winner!

Cut to the Husband and Wife checking out a car they both think they chose.
