No one on the bench can. At least he’d teach toughness
He also has a lot of experience working with kids on their game and did a lot of work with Buddy and others.

We can dish it out but……..He is right. Many on here are impulsive and ignorant. What he was talking about was not the frustration over losing. He was NOT defending the current status of the program. He was talking cause and effect. He isn’t saying the patient isn’t sick. He was saying that we don’t understand what caused the illness.Haven’t heard or seen anyone post so I apologize if someone already did, but what does everyone make of the comments. He is clearly backing Red and says we need to give him another year and then some! Says “(we) social media doesn’t know anything about what’s going on”
Well Devo, we can see what’s happening on the court and teams with lesser budgets and NIL is getting far more production and Ws. Don’t come at the fans about we don’t know what’s happening. Only thing that matters are Ws.
Why do so many people care about Devo defending Red? I have no problem with it. Of course it’s out of love and loyalty. Let’s move on from this.
No one is saying that. But he didn’t need to make excuses for Red and act is if this is the right hire.Clearly Devo should have gone full "Derrick Coleman" and thrown Red and all the players under the bus.
Because that would have looked great on a National TV broadcast.

I've never been a big-time JG3 guy since I felt the staff was trying to push him away from his strengths and use him as someone he was not (a PG). He went to Clemson was used in a limited fashion (fewer minutes, fewer 2pt FGA) looked to be in great shape, and had his best season by far.but he didnt except for JG3
Right, because those were the only two options.Clearly Devo should have gone full "Derrick Coleman" and thrown Red and all the players under the bus.

If we had Kraft we’d also have more interesting massage facilitiesThere’s just dumb people running SU hoops and dumb people defending the other dumb people
I’m not blind this is a tremendous debacle. If Syracuse had a Bob Kraft I’d know this ends by first week of March
I would suggest that maybe he scripted himself. Prepared some notes. That‘s a simpler, more reasonable explanation, no? Knowing he was walking into a bit of ‘controversy’ of his own making, and needing to justify the questioning of his previous remarks?Yeah, I dunno - Devo was definitely more critical in prior games.
His comments sounded a bit scripted to me - like someone told him to circle the wagons for Red.
But who from and why would that order come down now??
If we can't afford to buy out Red this year, maybe that's what he is saying we have no clue about??
It's definitely a message you start repeating if Red is back no matter what next year and you need to try and soften up the fanbase for that reality.
It will be interesting to see what he says in future games called, as this will become a drumbeat message if that is the case.
It would be very Syracuse to hire a legacy coach with no HC experience and NOT have an economical buyout clause based on poor performance.
I’m sure he could coach defense. He was a revolving door when he played. We don’t need anyone associated with this program to teach defense. Jason Hart might be the only one.I would not mind Devo on the bench at all
Was Tom Thibodeau a sick defender when he played D3?I’m sure he could coach defense. He was a revolving door when he played. We don’t need anyone associated with this program to teach defense. Jason Hart might be the only one.
I don’t blame him for defending Red. I do have a problem with defending him using a range from specious-to-moronic statements. And then insulting fans’ intelligence in telling us that we’re ‘clueless’ and shouldn‘t believe our lyin’ eyes.No one is saying that. But he didn’t need to make excuses for Red and act is if this is the right hire.
I agree. Look at Fran Brown, the football team with a lot of the same talent (obviously not including gets like McCord and Meeks and Diggs) did a complete 180 culture wise.Players are a reflection of your coach. If the. Coach is laid back the players will be too. It’s always been that way

I hear Red defenders saying, "he needs time to get his guys in, 3 years at least"
Ok, he was instrumental in landing JB's best recruiting class ever. We didnt portal that offseason, which was suicidal and insiders talked about a 2 year plan. That team was just above .500 and led to JB being removed.
Red could have cleaned house when he inherited the job, but he didnt except for JG3, so those were his guys since he played a part in recruiting them. This is not the case of an outside hire being stuck with inheriting a bad roster. He ran it back with them for their soph year. Jessie wasnt able to be retained, Red doesnt deserve the full blame for that obviously but he added some pieces he wanted, JJ and Chance.
First Year missed tournament, that 2 year plan was a failure, it got JB fired and then all but Bell from that recruiting class was gone. Red adds Choppa and Donnie, portals in the rest for this years roster and here we are 0-8 vs the P5. For the 2nd year these are his guys.
Next year will be Year 3 of his guys (if he gets it) at what point do we stop with that silly statement?
He was supposed to be..I would not mind Devo on the bench at all

eh I don't think the major outlets care. Further proof that we aren't a blue blood and never were for anyone outside the 315.Two points
Devo is an insightful color guy when he talks x's and o's and other points.
If what he said during the FSU game was his honest opinion...fine.
But he should also talk about the truth: this team is awful...especially in fundamentals.
Even clueless people can see that.
At some point...and probably soon...there's going to be a major story in a major outlet about the collapse of Syracuse basketball.
No one will be able to hide from it.
And there will have to be a response.
Too many alums in the business.eh I don't think the major outlets care. Further proof that we aren't a blue blood and never were for anyone outside the 315.
I am on the Devo train, I just trust Red stays true, fearless and limits unnecessary noise. Unless people want the ship to sink regardless. Otherwise just gonna take a little time. I got it, do you?Haven’t heard or seen anyone post so I apologize if someone already did, but what does everyone make of the comments. Brave yes, loyal yup, all daySticking up for his friend is all it was. It was a terrible choice of words for someone looking to make a career in the media. It is clear he got some talking points for Syracuse because he repeated them multiple times.
Crazy, uninformed inuendo treated as if insider information. He swung and missed real bad, give him some time.I think pitch forks coming out for Red from inside the program and his friends this early might make the buyout harder.
Its early January let him try and win some games.
Of course on here we are not going to say that and privately I doubt that is consensus but we aren't even half way through the season. Announcers make game plans for their call Devo clearly went into FSU wanting to defend his friend and pump JJ's tires.
If GT and BC are non competitive losses Wildhack needs to act quickly and get an interim in so we can save some face and maybe win a couple down the stretch. Miami has an advantage on us bc they can already negotiate and hire the next guy.
