Haven’t heard or seen anyone post so I apologize if someone already did, but what does everyone make of the comments. He is clearly backing Red and says we need to give him another year and then some! Says “(we) social media doesn’t know anything about what’s going on”

Well Devo, we can see what’s happening on the court and teams with lesser budgets and NIL is getting far more production and Ws. Don’t come at the fans about we don’t know what’s happening. Only thing that matters are Ws.

Brian Higgins asked him exactly that in an interview linked in the Ga Tech / Boston College thread. Devo said it's the guys themselves - not the coach - who are responsible for playing hard. College coaches don't coach effort. They expect it.

My opinion:
That said, the problem is roster construction, which is not fixable in-season.
  • Don't get hard-balled by a free agent center who can't play more than twenty minutes a game.
  • Don't put high hopes on a forward who pouts instead of playing through adversity.
  • Don't go shopping for transfer players in minor college leagues.

Sticking up for his friend is all it was. It was a terrible choice of words for someone looking to make a career in the media. It is clear he got some talking points for Syracuse because he repeated them multiple times.

I would say this to him., we as fans frankly don’t care what percent of the suck is players or coaches. All we see is the suck. So whatever it takes to stop the suck, we are for that.

Honestly what did we expect him to say? All former players defend the program who left on good terms, well except for DC who gets a little crazy sometimes. I don’t agree with him at all but he’s not going to throw Red under the bus especially when he’s still around the team and coach.

I expect him to keep his mouth shut just like every other media alum does. They say red can turn this around and move on. They don't call out the fans and they don't make up excuses.

It’s the fans who are wrong! Not the 12 people in the Syracuse media ecosystem who are financially interested in and dependent on access to the athletic program. No it’s those pesky internet trolls who don’t know the score.

Devo was very critical of the team in the first games he called. He really turned on the suck up mode for the FSU game. Maybe someone said to be less critical or maybe he wants a job with Red.
I don't care if he does another game if we have to listen to the crap that he spewed for the FSU game.

It was discussed in the game thread. I had quite a bit to say about it. None of it good.

I would not mind Devo on the bench at all

It was sad to hear honestly. He is very loyal to Syracuse and cares about Red. He wants it to work and verbalizing that hope out loud. I get it. I was in this spot the first few years of the JB decline.
The exact phrase was “you have NO clue”

Red may have learned a lot this year. I hope so. Might bend HFCFB ear to learn how he gets players to live DART. The resources are to get better and if you know Coach Autry you know he will do his best to get the program where it once was.

No one on the bench can. At least he’d teach toughness

Would he? The guy never played a lick of defense and was at the core of some notoriously soft teams.

He could yap and make layups with both hands. The former would play great with the current team, but I'm not sure anyone on this roster is capable of the latter.

To get players to live DART you start by living DART yourself. Maybe he should first ask HFCFB how to live DART himself.

Devo should just announce the game and keep his mouth shut about Syracuse fans and keep his opinion of us fans to himself. We see what is going on this team is not well coached and this is the worst Syracuse team ever in my opinion for all the support that the fans have given for years going to the games in the worst weather, yes Devo we want a competitive Syracuse team not what they are playing like. Its unacceptable and Red and the staff should be let go and time to bring in a coach who has discipline and can teach defense like Mick Cronin at UCLA maybe Red should see how they play defense and Devo please keep your comments about us Syracuse fans to yourself.
