Dickie V diagnosed with lymphoma

He was unbearable in the 90's with his nonstop Duke crap. Now, I want to hear him forever.

That's how I feel. Based on everything I have read, he is the kindest person you'd ever want to meet and treats everyone well and has raised a ton for cancer research. That far outweighs if you don't really care for his announcing style.

I was heartened to see him back at work. There are so many commentators who try to force a schtick or use the platform to sh** on the product to the point where one wonders if they even like what they do. He exudes joy.

That being said, his voice today was rough and I doubt it'll get much better as he continues to age. I wouldn't want him calling a game with real stakes, at least not without a third guy. I think one game a week between two good but not elite teams with a big audience like today is the sweet spot.

He won't make it through multiple games.
I love Dickie V - for all the reasons above - especially compared to all the low-cost ACC network no-talent a-clowns.

It took me a long time to start liking Dickie V. I couldn’t stand his Diaper Dandees etc. but as I saw all he does for cancer research especially the children’s cancer research with connecting personally with these kids I completely became 100% behind him.

he is genuinely one of the all time great people. Not just in sports, this guy is elite and I am glad I realized how wrong I was on him. The world needs more Dickie Vs.

I hope he does as many games as he is comfortable with going forward. He is THE voice of college basketball. He helped build this whole damn thing.

I saw on my news feed that Dickie is asking for prayers as he awaits the results of his lates PET Scan tomorrow. Dickie, I am sending them up and I hope all of our SU family joins me in this. Cancer sucks. Almost all of us have been touched by it either personally or through a family member or close friend. I am thinking of you Dick and praying for wonderful news for you.

Dick Vitale has been as great an ambassador of the college game we love, stress over and adore. All the best Dickie V!
