Didnt have a chance to post last night but

they're just completely opposite players. CJ is more effective against the more physicaly defensive teams. James needs room for his J, and marquette smothered him in the half court setting. But against a team like Notre Dame, James will go off and he can score in bunches better than CJ.

I love CJ's all around game... His ball skills for a forward are good, he has a nice touch around the rim, and a real nose for the ball... CJ struggles a bit at times because he gets pushed around. If this kid can fill some of that skinny frame out he will be a beast. If he can do as much with the weights as he has done with his shot he'll be a 16-7 type guy for the next 2 years.

I think they're both great. But I believe an argument can be made...

Points per 40 minutes
Fair - 13.6
Southerland - 20.3
Rebounds per 40 minutes
Fair - 8.2
Southerland - 8.2
Assists per 40 minutes
Fair - 1.1
Southerland - 1.6
Steals per 40 minutes
Fair - 1.7
Southerland - 2.8
Blocks per 40 minutes
Fair - .6
Southerland - 2.0
Turnovers per 40 minutes
Fair - 1.6
Southerland - 1.0

And if you want to look at last night, as I mentioned, I think when Southerland was in we shut them down defensively. CJ played soft offensively (missed 5 layups) and was in for most of the second half when they rolled over us.
you are chasing your tail down a blind alley - comparing James to CJ misses the point. They are not in competition with each other for playing time. They play two different positions. CJ gets almost all the minutes as the 4 (use whatever terminology you want - big forward, interior forward). On the other hand, the only way you are going to get more Southerland is to get less Joseph. James is a 3; he backs up Joseph, and his minutes are dependent on KJ's minutes. If it is an easy win, or if KJ is in foul trouble or hurt, then James will play. But, in close games, JB is going to ride his senior co-captain Wooden Award candidate.
