Dino’s buyout

not sure how a 20-13 game with a whole quarter to play was never in doubt. Rutgers outgained they by like 200 yds the last 40 min. outgained them by 100 yds over all. Rutgers had the ball at the 30 and the 10 and didnt score in the 4th as well.

I watched most of the game, at no point did I ever think Michigan was going to lose. They got sloppy defensively and as soon as RU made it a one score game they clamped down and that was it. RU played Michigan tough I have no issue admitting that but that doesn't take away from my prior point.

can someone make a list of the bonehead decisions? do some bad in game decisions mean more than good pre-game decisions that got SU into spots to win games? Last I saw we are not rolling Ala talent out on the field.
The first bonehead decision that I noticed was the Pitt game a couple of years ago where we were down and Pitt had the ball killing clock and Dino didn’t use any time outs. The players on the sidelines were screaming for timeouts and looked dumbfounded.

That looked like Dino just quit. In the press conference he said he was waiting to use them on offense lol. He said he’d do the same thing again.

How can you lose games and say you wouldn’t do anything different? He continually says he made the right decision after bad clock management and loses

I think most could live with Dino saying “yep I screwed that one up, my bad”

Total Offense Rankings:

FSU - #76 - we gave up 378 yards
Rutgers - #99 - we gave up 195 yards
Wake Forest - #42 - we gave up 426 yards
Liberty - #36 - we gave up 369 yards
Ohio - #103 - we gave up 346 yards

Still to come: Pitt #4, Louisville #30, NC State #48, BC #63, Clemson #116 (lol we shall see on Friday), VT #115

Like I said, the second half is going to be very telling.
If we held them all to less than their average so far, I’d bet we hold the others to less than their average which might suggest the D is good

We can beat Clemson (bad O), VT (bad O), and Louisville (horrid D) … I’m not scared of NC State and BC. PITT is by far the best team left on our schedule.

yep but lets just worry about clemson this week

As alarming as the losses piling up is bad recruiting. 13th in ACC. BC and Pitt have very good FB recruiting. Why can't Dino? Why do both those peer programs recruit so well now and Syracuse does not? Why? I'd like to hear Dino's explanation in Year 6...yet you hear nothing. Crickets.

If recruiting does not improve considerably it is all a moot point. You can't run a successful program with recruiting 12-14th rated in ACC. Consistently. Firing is guaranteed.

The buyout is his main protection. Yeah, he could be bought out. But they would rather not. It is a lot of dead money and admins and trustees will want answers. No matter what record, 3-9 or 5-7, the can will be kicked down road for at least one more year.

No firing this season.
I’m afraid I agree…..

In your 60 or whatever posts here do you do anything but complain and ask rhetorical questions? Pitt is located in a very solid recruiting area. BC gets a lot of the Jesuit HS kids which tend to pump out pretty good football.
Dang those jesuit HS’s must be super strong to give BC, a further northeast school. A top 5 in the ACC recruiting ranking

Correct. Look, anytime there is a coaching change you lose a few recruits. It happens...not a big deal. You get a few new ones arriving too. It is never a reason not to pursue a new coach of you believe it warranted.

The worst impact on recruiting? Losing records. Nobody wants to play for a losing program.
That’s right. Recruits, however, WILL come to play for a “name“ HC.…..and our current roster shouldn’t change very much….they’ll want to play for him, too.

AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN! What the H?

I really don’t know what to think. I’d hate to have to rebuild from scratch and I want Dino to succeed, but if we go 3-9, then how do they keep him on?
If we bring in a respected HC that kids WANT to play for, we lose nobody and we bring in more 4* recruits. Our players will see it as a step up.

Who do you have in mind that they could afford and that is a legit good recruiter?

Why can’t we get someone like Hafley? Is BC that much richer then us?

the university shouldn't just pay him to leave. bring him back to run the game clock in the dome.
(of course we'll have to train him where it is, what it does and why it matters )
Put him in charge of the pre game quad activities. But seriously have him head up fund raising and PR.

We could have if he was coming from OSU DC but not from BC HC. BC is positioned better right now with new facilities, the Jesuit thing and Boston.

If a change was made, I’d hope we’d have a shot at Jamey Chadwell from Coastal Carolina. His spread triple option offense would fit Syracuse so well. Look at the size of his linemen and look at the numbers they put up. He’s going to be at a big time program soon.

I keep reading over and over that the school can’t afford his buyout. So the AD entered into a contract the school couldn’t afford to enforce if it decided to? This is fiscal mismanagement on his part and maybe he needs to be evaluated. He basically signed Dino to a guaranteed contract no matter the outcome. So it was just to keep him here and make other schools pay huge money for him, but ties their own hands at the same time
Well said.

And we are all making up the “realities,” but like Dino once proclaimed, “they [Syracusefan.com] didn’t know.”

Let’s see what we do this year. Improvement overall is there, but wins make the Benjamins.

You said “triple option offense “! The horror!!
