Dino 202X

I don't recall this level of freak out over the HC when Marrone went from 8-5 in year 2 to 5-7 in year 3. By the wy, he rebounded nicely in year 4.

Those 2010 and 2011 teams were pretty comparable in terms of talent and performance. The 2010 team had the benefit of an incredibly easy schedule, and the 2011 team probably had more injuries than any SU team in recent memory.

I don't think the 2018 to 2019 regression is in any way similar. We were a Top 15-20 football team in 2018, and now we're operating at basically a GRob level. The drop has been like the 1929 stock market.

Only way he fixes this is to recruit better. This is less about X's and O's and more about not having enough talent.

Some (many) will disagree, but Syracuse isn't being out-coached, it just doesn't have the talent to compete in the ACC this year. And unfortunately next year looks to be worse
Look I understand what you’re saying but I mean how do you explain Cincinnati and all these teams in the American which on paper we out recruit them but they’re winning every year

How is he not held accountable? Should he resign?
Cuse if you didn’t know HOF is never serious unless he is being serious about never being serious. Seriously. In case you didn’t know.

It’s finally coming out that behind the scenes that several players didn’t put the time in over the summer. It’s pretty obvious who they might be. Several players have regressed and appear slower. Whigham and Bailey mentioned this on their pidcast. Shows a lack of player leadership and players thinking they are better than they are.

This is pretty much it. You won't see a documentary series this off-season if I had to bet on it. Guys were believing their own hype and haven't been the same since getting punched in the mouth by Maryland. Think there's going to be a culture shock after this year is over.

Strength of schedule

You are really comparing a dip from 5-5 vs FBS regular season to 4-7 vs going from 8-3 to 2-9?

Dino would have loved to play that 2nd year Marrone schedule this year lol

Cant sum it up better.

do people not get that?

We lost by 31 at home to a BC who lost to Kansas at home. We lost to Maryland who has gotten blown out by all Bug Ten teams not named Rutgers. <insert more examples if needed>. We return a ton of starters from a 10 win team that was a play away from beating Clemson who won the NC by dominating Alabama. I understand the raw talent needs to get better, but is it really responsible for this massive swing?

Great post. The talent issues and/or inexperience along the OL was going to be an uphill battle.
You still need to be able to coach them up to an extent. Don't lose to BC or Maryland by a combined 70+. That's just completely unacceptable. I don't care who you're rolling out there.

BC ran the same plays. Run blitzes can stop the running game in obvious run downs.
We were passive and then blitzed on passing situations which left us vulnerable for deep shots and BC hit them.
We didn’t adjust to BC running an unbalanced line on run downs.
unbalanced line---gives me pleasant memories of bens teams
