It’s interesting that two of SU’s best players over the last couple of years and both will get drafted are from NY.

Is Dino and staff making inroads in recruiting? People say NY doesn’t produce much talent but does produce All Americans. What needs to be done to get the next Trill and Cisco in-state?

Dino has commitments from the #3 (Moss), #4 (Matthew), and #8 (Fuentes) players in NY for 2021
That’s great! I think if that trend continues it’ll be good

Admittedly I don’t follow recruiting all that much until Jan. Too stressful...

Kind of telling on the level of talent when, of the top 15, 3 are going to Buffalo, 3 are going to UMass, 1 is going to Grambling.

I'm sure some of our board favorites will spin some yarns about the recruiting prowess of those schools.

Too bad the Rochester kid wants to get as far away as possible.

Did Trill and Cisco have a lot of offers? I forget. Maybe Cisco because he finished in FL.

Maybe being in NY they don’t get the same look? I saw the one linebacker play in person down here that we really wanted. Starts with a Q or something and his Dad wanted him to go to Notre Dame. I forget but he didn’t look all that great live to me but had a bunch of offers

Trill: Rutgers, BC, Pitt, Temple, Buffalo, FAU, Maine, UMass, Stonybrook

Cisco: Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Vandy, BG, Samford

I believe Trill was #3 in NYS, and Qadir was #4. Envisioned big contributions from them in their 4th and maybe 5th year.

Things just don't always work out. For us, they often don't.

Those are decent but not All American offers. Did Frost know Cisco when he was in FL maybe?

Bromley was rabbit out of the hat. Who was recent, maybe Brandon Reddish

We aren't competing in the ACC with NY kids.
You don’t think Cisco or Trill were competitive? Cisco is an All American and Trill played great, they could definitely compete in the ACC.

Can we fill a whole roster no, but it’s ironic that people say forget NY kids when our two draft picks this year will be from NY. Add JJ as another get.

It also helps with attendance

Two out of 90 and I don't think it helps attendance. We need to focus on good football states.

I was watching Buffalo-NIU last night. I want to say Buffalo started one lineman from Buffalo and two from Rochester (could be the other way around).

Ultimately, that's the problem. The D1 talent in Upstate, for the most part, is low G5 talent.

Im one of those that love to see so many NY kids playing for a successful D1 team. Particularly Rochester kids. There's alot of pride and passion when I see them. Actually, every Rochester kid on the field I coached against. Im proud of that. The starting center and TE are both from Victor (Novitsky & Lefebvre). The starting HB Molinich is a Pittsford kid. Another lineman (Jack Klenk) is from Pittsford. Cory Gross (Brockport) who I trained in HS is the starting safety. Riggins (Aquinas) is one of the best players in the MAC. Eric Black is from Rush Henrietta. He had a big strip sack last night. The kicker is a McQuaid kid. There's more I haven't named. With that said, having these guys on the SU team would be nice but the only one I see that would really help SU in the ACC is Riggins. We can really use his skillset.

Don't get me wrong. It's awesome what Buffalo has going on. Super cool to see so many WNY kids getting a chance. For reasons you later mention among others though, it's unlikely this model would work at Syracuse.

NY had about 100 times more players than ND.
NDSU which has won more National Championships than any other college football program always fields a dominant OL. If you review their roster almost every OL is from North Dakota or Minnesota. We need better talent evaluation, training, and most importantly OL coaching. If NDSU can find solid players in ND we can certainly find solid kids in NY.
I hope we continue to recruit the state aggressively.

NDSU would probably finish 3-8 every year if they played in the ACC.

Yes, they have upset some BCS teams, but they are not the FB equivalent of Gonzaga. Dartmouth maybe.

Good lord man. North Dakota? Apples and Oranges. Best Athletes in Upstate NY are playing soccer and lacrosse these days as well. Nobody cares much about football anymore.
North Dakota?
