Dino and NY

Watch their games.
Ive watched their games before. Seen quiet a few of their chip games. Watching their games dont change the fact that they couldnt compete week in and week out in a P5 conference. Comparing FCS teams to FBS is not a good approach. How you think SU would do with their schedule?

1696 divided by 50 states equals 34 players per state which is how many NY state produces. And, there is only 1 P5 school in NY. Don’t you think Syracuse should have produced more than 1 current NFL player from NY? You are not going to win a national championship with only NY players, but you can produce a consistently good team with a core of NY players surrounded by kids from PA, NJ, CT, MD/DC with some speed from FL and GA.

When I was at SU there were plenty of kids from the region...not really stars (Gedney was) but tons of depth guys, program guys. Guys this team really needs. The region doesn't seem to produce them year in and year out in any sort of quantity anymore. A guy here and a guy there doesn't really do it.

Agreed with one significant caveat. Im comparing a team that in modern day football has won more National Championships than any other football team. A team that has close to a 700% winning percentage against some very strong D1 teams. Iowa, Minnesota, Kstate, CSU...
Vs an SU program that has at best struggled over the last 20 plus years.
My two cents is just that but having followed both programs very closely for most of my life i can simply say that from 2010 till the end of this season if we had played NDSU home and away for the last 10 years NDSU would have won more games.

You changing the narrative brother. You talking about a dominant program that is in a lower level. Maybe Mount Union will win half of ACC games too. Answer the question. How will SU do with ND schedule?

The region doesn’t produce or SU don’t sign them? Jay Bromley is a perfect example. Did he even have another offer? And we picked him up super late to fill a spot and he was drafted

He's one kid! Who went to Holy Cross High School which is like 2 miles from where I grew up, whose football program (and mine as well - they are rivals) had to downgrade a division. That's also 5 hours from Cuse but that's a different story.

Who is the last QB from the 315 to play at P5 school. I hope it's not Paulus (either one).

As far as the 585, its Zembiec (who never played, got hurt) , Keith Downing who backup McNabb, before that it was Billy Scharr. 3 in 35 years.

One kid that no one paid attention to because he was a NY player. I was hanging with some old players from Christ the King last week and one of their teammates played at Cuse with McNabb(I forget his name, DL I think) and they would drive up for every Dome game, 5 hours isn’t that long. I made it once in 3 1/2 hours when I had a Mustang 5.0

I love the under the radar kid that makes the most of his opportunity. I saw Bromley earn a scholarship live at the Upstate Downstate game. On the other end of that many top NYS prospects didnt pan out. We have to look at it both ways if we are gonna cherry pick.

Yes for sure I agree. Averin Collier or Ashton Brolyd probably didn’t perform as expected.

I was just thinking that it would be good to get as many decent kids from NY or tri-state as possible. Seems like we’ve been doing really well with Canada and would like the same for NY

In fairness I had a pretty crappy car in those days.

Another thing that's happening is if a NYC kid is good often times bigger NJ and FL schools come in and recruit them (seriously). MY high school had an unusual talent burst a few years back and by junior year about six kids were somewhere else.

Good point. A lot of those kids go to NJ private school powers. Some kids are going to Connecticut prep schools now.

I had to read this a couple times to figure it out. So you are saying recruited to different high schools? WOW. Not surprised but that's crazy

I guarantee that SU wouldn't have come close to winning 127 games only losing 8 and winning 15 Championships if we had played NDSUs schedule. My guess is we would have won about 60-65% of the games.

Nice. Why stop there? I think De La Salle CA can beat P5 programs too. They had a 150 game win streak. That’s a successful program. Just based off that I guarantee they beat P5 teams

Comparing a HS team to a 15 time National Championship team that has beaten Iowa Iowa state, Minnesota, Kansas State, Colorado State, KU and won over 127 games since 2011 isnt a good look.

I don’t question if ND st can beat SU or any struggling P5 team here and there. They have done that. Actually, just in the last 15 years alone there’s been over 35 times a FCS team has beat a P5. It’s not just them. I’m just not gonna make any guarantees on how many games they would win in a P5 conference. Lol we will never get to see that. We will never get to see Mount Union play a full conference FCS schedule. Comparing SU to these teams makes no sense. We are dealing with totally different dynamics and challenges playing in the ACC.

Agreed. Lets hope that Dino can convince a few key Seniors to come back, we avoid the injury bug, and find a QB next year.

Yes. He’s needs that. Offensive line is the key. Not sure what Servais plans will be but we can get a transfer just as good or better with the new rules in place.
