Dino Babers hopes fans will support Syracuse football; will you go to the games? (poll)

Yes. That's the generation you lost by Gerging the program and how long it's been. The older fans remember how things used to be and can imagine a return to greatness. You'll have to draw in the young families to start a tradition with them.

Try to see this from the perspective of the casual observer and not a diehard that posts on this board. They don't care whether someone is a conference foe. There are two things they care about. Is the team successful/fun and are we playing a big name opponent. We have no big name opponents left on the schedule and our success is still TBD.

Get out there in the community and tell a friend or neighbor... (that it's a hoops game against UNC).

The reality is, the question isn't how many people are coming, the question is how many people that weren't planning on coming are deciding now to come.

There's going to be a lag there. I'm more confident that we see an attendance increase next season than this one, even though we do look a lot better.
Good point. Mrs Crusty wants to delay our annual departure to the Carolinas so we can attend the NC game. Go figure.

There’s no “the community is just not into football” thats not true.

I have yet to see an impressive effort by the university or carrier dome to draw larger crowds. Sure, theres been effort, but they are not doing enough in my opinion

win on a constant basis and other than the die hard will come , upstate NY is starving for a winner ...! it might take a year or 3

Can I ask what you'd like to see them do more of? Simply saying "they're not doing enough" isn't fair to the ones that are trying their best to do enough.

Lower indiv ticket prices, ramp up local tv, news, around town marketing (big time), have sufficient concessions in the dome and par to above par service.

Things that should be at the floor of what we should expect.

My local highschool has a more noticeable “come support us vs xxxx this saturday” sign than we have on 690, downtown, anywhere

I’ll say it again, the anticipated great season on tap for the hoops program is going to hurt football attendance. A lot of budget conscious fans have likely already set aside their 2018-19 ticket fund and it involves buying seats for hoops. SU is a victim of math. The CNY population is only so big, and alums are more likely to have planned a Jan/Feb visit back to campus than make last minute October plans.

I firmly believe that attendance will improve and likely dramatically. Hopefully we’ll see it for UNC, and more for NC St and Louisville. But if we don’t take care of Pitt forget it.

Former season ticket holder. Modernize the facility, I’ll be back. Being uncomfortable for 4 hours got old. And so did I.

Not for nothing I do find it interesting and a bit comical that HCDFB expected/gets 2.5 to 3 years to start showing significant change and we get 1 game to show significant change. A bit incongruent...That said I go to the games with my son and friends so it’s not exactly a direct impact to me. Honestly this is where AD gets some of his pay. He needs to work Dino a bit on the attendance as he is bumping Dino’s paychecks. Oh by the way, Dino needs to continue interacting with the community and selling a bit as well. This is a bit like “Field of Dreams”...build it and the fans will start to come. There are multiple parts to “building it” though. Go Cuse!

On the way

do people coming here for homecoming want a 3:30 or later game? many have dinner reservations so a 3:30 game screws that up and means no dinner for most of them until 9 or after.

the same for parents weekend.

My parents and I still made our dinner reservations when we had Parents Weekend in 06 against Wyoming. It was a good crowd. That will help a ton against NC State. Every hotel room in the city is spoken for that weekend. There should be over 40k if they are 6-1 at that point.

I think the change in attendance will lag a bit more. I think we'll see a bigger change next year, if we finish the season strong. The people that aren't coming are not the people that can tell this team is better. They are the people that see a record similar to the previous two years at this point and won't believe we're better until we finish strong. 17 years of mostly ineptitude will take a little while to overcome.

This is 100% spot on. Hope Babers and some on the board understand it.

I mentioned marketing yesterday because when Dino talks about attendance in a press conference, the fans who are NOT going to the games, are also NOT watching or listening to his press conference.

When you've been so bad for so long you've lost people to the point of not getting them back. So you better do something in the marketing dept. A message board and press conference aren't going to do anything.

The University needs to spend some money and market to get fans to the game.

The only people watching a post game press conference are the people who are already going to the games.

Spot on, I pretty much posted the same thing in a thread yesterday.

Is there an “everything you always wanted to know about football season tickets” thread somewhere? I’d really appreciate something like that. While I’d go to every game (even grob years) if I lived close, next year is the first time I’ve ever thought about getting seasons.

Answers to questions like: When they go on sale. Pricing/location breakdown. How many games you have to go to vs. single tickets, to make it worth it. What to do with tickets to games you can’t make it to. That kinda stuff, ya know?

I think we could push 45k if we’re 6-1. NC State most likely won’t have more than 1 loss.

I think the combination of the 4-0 start AND leading Clemson all game has opened eyes. Buzz is growing. 6-1 with a big home game against a good team?

Season tickets

Virtual seating w/ pricing

This community won't come unless we are ranked, and have a few good season"s. I don't expect to see much improvement in attendance until next year, as long as we get to 9 or 10 wins, and start strong next year.

Was about to share this.

If we dont get 40000 + for UNC, we have a serious issue on our hands imo.

I agree but even with a win vs Pitt, the following bye week will kill some of the juice and momentum, especially for the casual fan. The fan demographic we are trying to rope into the dome. Its a tough sell in Cuse and without a doubt the silver seats on gameday have Dino's full attention. Hope i am wrong and hope we get a desirable kick time like 330 or 400.

The first Cuse football game I ever went to was two years ago at Uconn. The first home game I went to was last year. I am getting tickets for UNC. My wife doesn’t know it yet; but I’m probably purchasing tickets to all three.
