Dino can outlift our Frosh?

What is the context?

Fro example, I would bet that Taj is pound for pound stronger than the vast majority of the board. But I would also bet that a good amount of us can bench more than Taj. You can't expect a 165 lb 20 year old to put up more weight than an out of shape 250 lb 40 year old meathead who has been lifting over 20 years. So yeah Dino lifting more than an 18 year old isn't a surprise.

I wonder how Dino matches up to the guys that have spent 4-5 full years in the program.

Doubt he can touch Rhino.

Per this mornings paper. Sorry that is just unacceptable though I'm sure Dino is a strong 60 year old.
I don't think you understand how weight lifting and strength works. You can stay strong pretty late in life. What Dino has likely lost a lot of is speed, quickness, and agility. Most guys have not reached they're strength peak in their early 20's much less as freshman in college. Look at most strength athletes. They're peaking in their 30's.

the context is that he’s playing a lot of freshman on defense who can’t even out lift him and he’s 60. They need S&C.

There are guys out on the defense — and I mean a lot of them — that can’t touch me in the weight room, and I’m almost 60 years old. This isn’t about me, but I’m like, ‘They can’t even lift with me.’

“These guys will grow up. They’re going to lift up. They’re going to build up, and then they’re going to be really, really good players.”

Good frigging grief Dino. Yes, it's about you and the current level of YOUR team/program. Ugh!

I would love to understand better how our staff goes into the off season in regards to guidance and work out programs and diets for the players. Servais is the first example that comes to mind. His weight has fluctuated the last three years and would find it interesting to understand the "why" around that. Was it intended to help with quickness and agility? Was it an injury outcome? Was it the S&C staffs plan? Are there weight gain or loss targets by month?

Thank you Mr. Atlas.

Thank you Mr. Atlas.
He's right, btw.
I maxed out in strength at 43 and not sure if could have continued to get stronger because i stopped lifting heavy and followed the advice of my ortho to stop going heavy after I got hurt maxing out on a pyramid.

My 18-22 year old me could not touch my 43 year old me when it came to strength.

It was the rest of it, speed, vertical, agility etc...that 43 year old me could not touch 18 year old me.

Do we give our HS signees a program to follow before they hit campus? Blows my mind that a college football player could hit campus at 165.

LOL thats good. I'm glad our coach can't outlift players that have been in the program for 4-5 years. Thats how it should be. Thanks for that note of positivity. I don't get the love for Edinger. I still feel we are lacking in strength when we are playing peer schools. Duke pushed us all over the field earlier in the year.

No guarantee the freshmen had access to weight rooms before they got to campus, which was later than usual anyway.
True I forget about the covid situation

Sigh.
Of course you read into it to that way.

Kids generally don’t come out of HS close to physically mature, so it’s not a shock that somebody who has lifted for decades, is stronger than most of them.

After 2-3 years in college S&C that will no longer be the case for the vast majority of them.

And it is not like Dino is some slub off the street. Serge Nubret lifted till the day he died. He was more jacked at 70 than NoinetyNoine point 99999999% of people in their Noineteens.
