Dino's Game 9 Press Conference | BC

Yes
It was written that in the beginning of Dinos coaching on the hill I believe when Lewis was coach that there wasn't a physical playbook. That the concepts were taught and simply put the O was based on what the D was giving. A type of RPO. That was a few OCS ago and I was wondering if Beck was doing the same thing or if everything had changed.

And I know that there is an attractive moderator who has been thinking the same thing also.
But I'm not saying who.

Here’s a question I would have loved to hear get asked yesterday: Dino, the fan base is using the word “embarrassed” about our performance on national TV the last 4 weeks. Are you embarrassed too?

2 Questions for the board:

- Who asked Dino if he makes a Bowl does he deserve to keep his job?

- Who was laughing on the sidelines? I was hate watching the second half and may have missed some shots.

Bees if we lose 30-3 on Friday play out Saturday for us? Dino allowed to finish it out?

It sounds like from you we are what we are and Dino isn’t the issue. Or rather hands are tied and he’s the best we have.

I didn’t say any of that. All I’ve said is that I’ll let the season play out.

Understood. I couldn't get a sense of where you stood. I actually think you are somewhat in the know so i look to your crystal ball to see how this could shake out.

I think the season will play out on Friday night. Waiting for the end is allowing for a snowball to get bigger potentially.

I just looked, Greg Robinson was fired on Nov 16th and had one more year left on his contract paying him 1.1mm. They played ND and Cincy post firing with GERG allowed to finish out the season. It is fascinating to me that Gross let GERG finish out or rather GERG wanted to finish out vs handing over to an assistant.

This was the staff...this isn't the Dick Mac 1980 staff

CDRW was the one allegedly laughing on the sidelines but I did not see it from the nosebleed seats and I am not going back to watch that game again

My opinion , which means nothing, is 6-6 gone, 7-5 50/50 may depend on bowl, 8-4 he’s good. We went from 5-7 to 7-6 and I believe John probably told him continued incremental improvement on the record has to be shown.

I also wish we didn’t get those 3 games in a row then go to Lane on a Thursday night. I wonder what would happen and what the perception would be if the games were sprinkled about differently.

Agree with this take. JW has been lit up since the last few weekends. Being non-competitive in games riles people up. Dino needs a strong turnaround to right the ship coming home and I think that means 7-5. I don't see us firing an 8-5 or 7-6 coach. 6-6 with the blowouts is fair game given contract situation.

Penalties (mental and physical) especially that early in the game are a sign of a team unprepared and checked out. You want to say that's not "quitting". Cool. It's pretty much impossible to quit playing football without getting hurt so I get it. I'm fine with saying "checked out".

Agree with this. Penalties on three of the first four plays (I believe), when you are talking about scripted plays.

Engaged players shouldn't be doing that. No way.

Those 3 games in a row - 2 on the road - have definitely taken a mental toll. Sprinkled around may have had different results just based on the mental side of things.

The penalties to start the VT game and subsequent punt had a floodgate effect and on the road it's difficult to stop. I was pining for Babers to call a timeout after the 3rd penalty to huddle them up, calm them down and deflate the crowd a little bit. It was bonkers at that point. I know it's football but you shouldn't hoard your timeouts in the first half. A TO there would've been basketball-ish but I thought it was necessary.

This team mentally is on life support right now, definitely doubting themselves and assuredly there is locker room turmoil. I'd be shocked if they can beat BC.

not to be the counter point guy but we asked for this. We asked to be in the ACC. We get paid to be with the big boys. Being in the ACC means playing Clemson, UNC, FSU and then VA Tech. I'm sure back in the 90s no one wanted to come to the carrier dome either because it was hostile.

At some point these things will reshuffle again and we'll be back to playing at temple, at pitt, and at Army in mid October. Our peer schools btw. This is the business we have chosen.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown. We also were allowed a very nice par 4 to start the season with those creampuffs. What if the season started at LSU, at Purdue, at ND, etc. We'd be 1-7 right now.

Had we not accepted the ACC invite, UConn would have.

We'd be stuck in the AAC right now with Temple, Memphis, ECU, Tulane, etc...

Ironically, we'd be begging for a chance to join the ACC/B10/B12 if/when room opens up.

I don't know what you're counter pointing. Neither Bees nor I are making any excuses. Simply wondering if the results would be the same had the schedule been laid out differently. I coach, I know the mental toll losing like this can have on kids. When they start doubting themselves it's hard to right the ship. So when you walk into a game like VT and it starts to go sideways it's over. Imperative we get on the board first vs BC. 7-0 will be like a shot of narcan.

Agree 100% that Dino should have used a time at that point. I too was screaming for him to do it. Heck, take two. It would be a lot more beneficial than when he called 2 TOs at the end of the half in the NC game just to run for 5 yds.

I still will root for SU and pray for 4 more wins. Not happening but a lot of things I pray for don’t either.

Ironically we'd be in fine shape and probably would have gone to as many bowl games as we have since 2013 and definitely our hoops program would be in better shape being in the big east.

Second irony is we'll end up basically in that spot anyway when ACC is given its last rights.

Having said that, i wanted to be in the ACC. Just saying we can't complain about the schedule of ACC teams now. Those are the teams we can't avoid no matter where the game is played. Everyone a month ago was penning in a win at Lane Stadium

The results were set up PERFECTLY this year. We can't play g*d and make it precise for Syracuse to have an inside straight on scheduling.

We played 4 easy teams and went 4-0
We played our ACC schedule (with a bye week in it) and went 0-4

We're in this quagmire because our program can't handle the truth of being overwhelmed physically by the ACC. It's obvious and it's the def of insanity since it happens yearly and we expect a diff result.

I'd argue JW looks at it as 5-7 to 7-5. The bowl games are so meaningless when key players don't participate.

Agree with your opinion. The schedule was unfortunate how it laid out, but you still have to now get it together and beat 3 of these 4 peer teams. I think there's no chance he gets fired at 7-5.

6-6 and 2-6 in the ACC just isn't going to cut it. Assuming the buyout isn't financial lift some assume it is.

You should watch a Mack Brown pre-week press conference. He breaks down stats, opponent, etc, talks about what's going on with individual UNC players, other things going on around the program, the whole 9 yards over the course of 50 minutes. He's super well prepared and you actually learn things... Makes me think the press conferences are a reflection of the quality of the coaching that the players experience within each program.
Mack Brown is a helluva coach. Despite what some on here seem to believe, unc is not a football power...but they have done really well with Mack as their HC.

Except that our hoops program would ALSO be in the AAC.

And we'd be making $7 mil/year in TV money as opposed to $40 mil.

I think our hoops would've been in the AAC with our football program. And would be getting like $5mil a year.
