Dino's Presser

Of course, I expect coach speak, but that was crap. If you are that young man or in that locker room you expect better. "I'm glad he didn’t fumble the snap. I'm glad it looked like he could throw the football."

For all we know we know it could be a running inside joke.

If I was that young man with a scholly to play at an ACC school I'd be pretty damn happy.

Dino is obviously very comfortable. I think he knows he's not going anywhere up or out.

I personally would have liked Dino to say " Jacobian played well based on the situation and what was given to him" Short and nice.

Also, has anyone consider the fact that Dino might have already had the conversation praising him and told Jacobian that he was purposely going to down play his performance publicly to temper expectations? Private and public is two different things (two different games coaches play).

Why do you have to temper expectations? This fanbases is starving for anything to be excited about. All we here is empty platitudes and movie references it feels like. We have tucker, we have G Williams. Let us have Morgan too

Tempering expectations is the smart play. With a fan base that eats their young, putting the young guy and the coach himself in the crosshairs so that pressure from potential collapses doesn't sink the ship. Personally, I would rather be surprised with success rather than be disappointed with failure that can apparently be the fault of only 2 people...QB or coach. Or both.

On the money Money.

Crusty I hear you but this happens everywhere and all the time. Boeheim does it weekly. It's coach speak publicly. My guess would be off camera the coaches and assistants are providing the support, mentoring, everything that you allude to.
I remember Coach Boeheim saying similar things after Girard’s first big performance

Hey I get it. We rely on hope as fans. When our teams are not winning we hope to see things that gives us a indication that things will be better. Jacobian represents that. I absolutely think Jacobian should be playing more. That will give valuable experience to a kid that can potentially be our QB. I also understand that its not as simple as we think.

“JaCobian had success in the fourth quarter, and he went out there and did what he’s supposed to do, and we’re proud of that. I’m happy for him,” Babers said.

Close enough?;)

I think OttoinGrotto and I were the earliest and most persistent voices calling for Dino to be our head coach. I have tried to be positive and supportive since he got here. However, I am really disappointed with his post-game presser and it strains my goodwill.

He was first asked about Cooper Lutz and gushed about his performance. But when asked about JaCobian Morgan, he said, "I'm glad he didn’t fumble the snap. I'm glad it looked like he could throw the football. But again, I wouldn't put too much stock on that - ya know that's the end of the game and we're running out the clock ourselves. Guys were giving him those throws. Pretty sure he didn't get blitzed - I'll go back and check the tape. But that's like throwing 7 on 7 that's not like a real football game. Someone said to me he did what he was supposed to do. If someone was going to play that defense and play that style, you would expect him to go in there and be able to complete a lot of balls and, If I'm not mistaken, he did. I can't remember one hitting the ground if there was any."

He was then asked how far away it was before he could come in to get some experience. He responded with the standard reply that we would have to slim down the offense for him and "all that stuff is down the road."

I can't believe how dismissive he was and if I were his father, I would call it insulating.
I don't care if reserves are in the game because they are playing hard trying to win playing time. Every pass was on target and on time.
AND he was blitzed twice. Once he got it out quickly and on the other he escaped when the pocket collapsed and threw a strike downfield while going to his left on-the-run.

He took what was there and had good vision and poise. His 10-play drive covered 80 yards in 4 minutes and 17 seconds. He completed passes to 6 different receivers.

He deserved encouragement and praise not the dismissive BS Dino threw out there. We were running out the clock ourselves but just happened to throw 7 passes out of 10 plays!! Come on, man.

Our senior starter has completed 46% of his passes with 6 TDs and 7 picks. His QBR against Wake was 5.8. He is getting worse not better. Dino's position strains credulity.

I don't know if he is losing the locker room but he sure as he'll is losing the fan base.

If JaCobian plays, it *will be* a slimmed down version of our offense. He’s a true freshman with 1 really disjointed camp. A slimmed down version of the offense will likely help JaCobian a ton. Any experience will. But a slimmed down version of the offense will come at the expense of the rest of the offense players. Is that trade off worth it? Maybe?

It’s not JaCobian vs Rex. It’s doing what’s best for the entire offense vs what’s good for one true freshman. And to be fair, I think it is a close call.

The only thing that bothers me about Dino is how he acts like his offense is so complex that a true freshman couldn’t possibly understand it to use all the plays in his “arsenal” then every single saturday we see the same exact things we’ve seen for the better part of 2 seasons which is quite literally the opposite of an arsenal. we run about 5 total plays. stop acting like your offense is on par with something the Andy Reid’s and Sean McVay’s of the world draw up, if that was the case we wouldn’t be sitting at 1-6. play your freshman quarterback the rest of the way.

This is an epically bad take in a bunch of ways.

He likely saw this season as we all should have - a bonus, experience is more than wins, let’s hope we can get through the season without all of CFB imploding.

His contract situation helps. I’m glad. People are underestimating the risk of staff overhaul this season without even factoring in the dollar amount of a buyout.

The benefits of this season are being underestimated too.

Getting the ball in WR’s hands and letting them make plays is better then having them practice how to tackle when rex throws another pick. Have them run simple routes not to complex and everyone benefits

They won’t be learning the offense, limiting the value of playing in this freebie year. I think you put in some packages for both freshman, alongside Rex - this maximizes the value for all.

Yes lol

His comments has zero to do with the amount of plays or the design of them.

God love us, but our fan base MURDERS young players that aren't instant stars. Case-in-point: Jawhar Jordan. God forbid Morgan goes out and throws an INT, half the fan base will call him a bust immediately.

‘what? Jordan is still hyped here as a cross between Reggie Bush and Warrick Dunn, it’s just that Dino isn’t utilizing him properly. People need to get a grip and realize just what we are up against here.

I feel like I've seen a lot of people on this board being particularly critical of Jordan, or at the very least, VERY keen on changing his position. That's surprising considering last year he WAS going to be a 1 - 3 round draft pick.

Yup. people think Dino is covering up the fact that he didn't play Jacobian earlier. lol, No its because he knows Jacobian threw 3 yard stick routes down the field against Wake's back ups. No reads, no progressions, no checks. His best play was when he improvised and made a play on the run.. I think we all went nuts because we haven't seen that since 2018 lol.

I was just happy that Jacobian‘s three yard stick routes hit guys in the chest. Rex’s were in the dirt

Either way you can give him a few series’s though? I see your point if we’re talking about giving him every snap. But I can’t see any harm in a few series’s.

I’m all for giving JaC. (or another young QB) the start and ample time calling and running the plays. The world will not end if he runs into great trouble. If the outcome is a loss it so be it! We’ve all seen that outcome before.
