Dino's Week 6 Pitt Press Conference

I think that SU needs to take concerted action, like offering discounted tickets or specials to the UNC game to draw the crowd in. Even if it ends up costing you some gate revenue [which can partially be made up for by concessions sales, btw].
Absolutely this. And those $110 tickets seem to be for every game. Just checked UNC and those same seats are $110. Not getting 40k+ until the price point is adjusted.

They go straight to digital with all the cool hype videos but tv is probably the way to go given the demographics in the area.

need to market all mediums then. digital is ok if it's the right digital but i'd hammer Local TV commercials. primetime tv is still wildly popular and so is morning talk radio.

if there's a ticket special for example how do they get the word out? i can't imagine selling too many because of some add on the side of a webpage or youtube hype video. the youtube demographic is like 15 yrs old.

If we start drawing over 40 hopefully they have enough water. If we drew that for FSU they would have been screwed.

This ontop of the ridiculous seat pricing is really starting to get me upset with the simple things the university could do to draw acceptable crowds

Yep. I am somewhat worried they aren't used to handling a large crowd because of so many years of down attendance. When we draw 45 they need to be able to handle the increased concession demand or people won't want to come back.

Come to think of it, its a miracle 37,000 came to the uconn game after at least half the FSU crowd probably told them the Dome was a nightmare.

Best half-time show I ever saw was some guy with one of those things at an Orlando Magic game in the early-mid 90s.

The $110 seats are a bad look for sure, but there are a lot of great seats available for UNC that are much lower priced. Quick look at Ticketmaster shows you can get seats in the 100 level on the 30 yard line for $65 a pop. That may be a little high for CNY but it doesn't seem ludicrous to me. Hard to imagine someone is getting a comparable seat for a premium concert at a lower price point.

As for the discussion about alumni, I know a number of alums who go back to at least one game a year. The challenge is that the size of our alumni base isn't in the same stratosphere of most P5 schools, and SU alums are spread over a large geographic footprint. The math is just difficult to overcome. Most importantly, it really is a build it and they will come thing when it comes to out of town attendance. Like it or not, the team has to be good to amp that up.

What I always find interesting is that SU draws really well for certain road games, even when the program has been down. I've been to BC and UConn games that were packed with SU fans. It always seems like we draw well when we play in the NC research triangle. And we have a core 20K that hit up NYC games. Just shows me that there is an appetite, but if the team is marginal-to-lousy few alums want to commit to a 300+ trip to CNY. It's fine to berate them for that, but it is what it is.

Are tickets cheaper if you buy them straight from the box office and not on ticket master? I.e. fees and such

Jeeezus, what a bunch of whiners. Whine, whine, whine. Have a beer like we did.
I had many, i believe i had them sweated out of me by the end of the third too

One of the announcers called it holding. I think he misinterpreted the call.

I bet it was Blackledge. He is a bone head.

Not that it matters because Keller got hurt and it sucks. But I watched the replay. They went to commercial after the punt and didn't show the ref's call live. Sean was the one who said it was holding and all the play by plays I can find say the call was holding.

I’m pretty sure they called holding.

Well, realistically, what can the die hards do to help out here? A lot of us already have multiple season seats and urge people to the games/hold tailgates
I buy six every year.

Dino calling out the locals again. If they get to 5-1 after Pitt, there is no excuse to rake leaves or go apple picking. The 20th is Homecoming as well as Parents Weekend. There should be 40K for UNC.
I'm coming up from Charlotte. So pumped up for the game!

Reduce prices and offer $10 general admission for certain sections. Ticket prices should be bargain basement until the Dome fills up.

This is the biggest three game stretch in the last 15 years. We all have to do our part.

Translation: Get the **** out to the Dome people!

They've shown enough, go to the games. And I'm sorry about all the replays, but you'll live.

He has hinted a few times lately. Attendance is obviously something he has noticed and is striving for moving forward. No excuse with this team. They are fun, talented, play their hearts out, and have tons of moxy. Let's get out there and show them fannies in the seats. But, then again this is Syracuse. Also, i realize i am preaching to the choir on this board.

"Dino: I hope the community saw a team they can get behind. I hope we are doing out part of putting something on the field they can be proud of."

Really, hoping the fans show up. And I hope Dino has faith that attendance will continue to improve.

Hope the AD does everything possible to get 45,000 in the dome for UNC. That is my goal in terms of attendance. Give aways, packages, I don't care. 3:30 start time would be HUGE Tom.

45k is ambitious, 40k would be the next step. That's a 5k bump from uconn. Have to beat Pitt, then the only excuses are "its UNC" , cider, apples, farmers markets, and yes...the leaves;)

Dont get me wrong, I love 319 its on the 50 with one of the best views in the dome.

That being said 110 is greedy and ridiculous. I paid 450 for the 2 season tickets all ogether there

$110 for upper deck is NFL prices.
