Dion Waiters: The NBA Is Lucky I’m Home Doing Damn Articles

Love Dion.

I remember in the 2012 tournament some reporter asked him who the best guard in the tournament was and he said "Me." The reporter repeated the question out of disbelief and he again said it was himself. Then the reporter asked who was the second best guard? And Dion says "Pfft, man, whoever ya'll pick to be #2, I don't have time to watch all these guys."

Couldn't put it down! You almost envy the level of confidence that Dion has, though you certainly don't envy how he came about it.
This kid believes he can do anything, be anything, & achieve anything. And who are we to say he's wrong?
I remember they once asked JB about Dion and he answered something like: "One thing you'll never have to worry about is Dion having a lack of confidence"! Too true.

Dion is a beast. Super clutch while he was here too.

Confidence alone certainly won't win you anything, but the absence of confidence can ruin any chance you have for succeeding.

One of the reasons Waiters has been one of my favorite players is because he could back his confidence up on the court. When he demanded the ball, it was going in. To hear the back story makes it that much more awesome and grew my respect for him as a person.

He knows that he could be dead, just like any one of his friends. All I know is, the last team I want him playing for is the Sixers.

I am pretty sure most of those articles are ghostwritten, but I could be mistaken.

Players' Tribune articles aren't written by the players, which creates a host of issues

That's too bad. I've really enjoyed some of these, especially one by Damon Stoudamire a year or so ago. Michael Carter-Williams and David Robinson also come to mind. The content is good, but a big part of the appeal, in my opinion, stems from the claim that these are written by the guy on the byline. (It's also problematic from an ethical perspective.)

Regardless, it's funny to think that Dion would've written his own piece. Come on, guys. Do you remember his tweets that were posted on this board?

Bilou in Fulton. Come for the skating, stay for the herpes.

That's funny coming from someone from Oswego. My friend's father did the electrical work in Bilou before it opened and we got to skate there before it opened for business.

I never said we didn't bring the herpes with us.

You're welcome.
