Dion Waiters

Is he the first player to play (well, on the roster) for both teams in the NBA finals during the same season?

Regardless of who wins, Dion will receive a ring. First SU player ever to do so?

There is no requirement that he would get a ring from the Heat. That would be at the election of the Heat organization if they decided to give him one - players that left the team or were traded are not required to be given rings.

If the rule was that you played for a team and got a ring, then Malachi Richardson would have received a ring for playing with the Raptors last year-- and he didn't after he was traded -- neither did Greg Monroe, CJ Miles, Delon Wright, and Jonas Valanciunas. Many people in Toronto were upset that a longtime loyal soldier in Valanciunas was not granted one by the organization.

If Jim Boeheim had coached all those NBA superstars and only won one title, I feel like that would be a big narrative.
i'd be happy to endure it

Miami does not have to give him a ring, most times the team does but there have been times where the team chose not to give players that were traded away a ring.
