Seems like it's definitely more than 60% so again maybe we should have more white players then? I guess the right thing to do would go 50% for both players and coaches.

If we're going to call out stuff like this too perhaps we should call out Patrick Ewing for having not one white player on his 7-25 team or Kenny Payne not having a single white player on his 4-28 team. You don't see anyone ever calling out issues like that. It always is one-sided every single time on issues like this.
Doubling down!

Lville:

G'town:

Walkons but good try.

Aidan McCool played in 3 games and averaged 1.3 minutes per game.

Victor Muresan played 1 minute the whole season.

Kenny Payne and Louisville has not offered a single white player in 2024 too according to On3. Same goes for Ewing and Georgetown.

Ok, so now it's "recruited" or "offered". You said...and I quote "we should call out Patrick Ewing for not having one white player on his 7-25 team or Kenny Payne not having a single white player on his 4-28 team." These two are on the rosters and therefore on the team.

Person A: "We need more diversity hires".

Person B: Louisville (4-28) and Georgetown (7-25) have African American coaches who have 0 white players on their roster (excluding walk-ons who play 1 to 5 minutes the whole season, happy?) and has no offers out to white players for 2024 either

Person A: dislikes post:

Pretty much sums up everything. Pathetic.

Neither of those coaches are likely to have their job next year. Why are we discussing them?

Whataboutism is my favorite argument strategy of certain elements of society today.

Okay, lets go 50-50. That'll impact one side far more than the other, no? - and therein lies the problem. This is simple statistics, it is statically improbable that a race that has dominated as the top players of a sport for nearly 3 decades is somehow "incapable" of producing people positioned for the top job? The meritocracy argument falls apart very quickly when you place it under any sort of scrutiny.

Better watch out man, they're prolly coming for your job next

why can't people just celebrate and honor a good thing. for crying out loud. nobody is being harmed here. this ain't an anti-white thing. Lots of coaches and players talk about trying to get more black men into HC roles. It's good for everyone. And it's really good for a school like Syracuse, with a history of some prominent firsts in this area. It's a selling point for all the black players when they're deciding where to play. I wish it helped more on the football side because Dino is a great role model.

Listen to the players. Representation matters to them. It's the only way the imbalance is fixed. It's no different than for young girls seeing women have prominent roles in business, politics, etc.

and frankly, just like we would for a white coach, we should also be celebrating how Ewing will be fired at Georgetown. Bad coaches are bad coaches. and georgetown still sucks.

By saying what I mean do you mean like calling out how almost every white player on opposing teams are labeled a "nerd", "dork", "stupid white guy hit a 3 again" or other things like that are said on here quite often?

But yes you do the implying of what you think I am for asking a question about player representation. Maybe look in the mirror when implying something like that.
Never say never, but. . .

I've been on this board and its predecessors for about 25 years, and I don't recall any of those terms ever being used to describe players of any color.

If you're trying to engage in a serious argument, using un-serious examples to make your point is not advised.

It literally just happened again in the last game thread. I won't name names. White dude who made a 3 was called a dork. Hillbilly and redneck used to be common on here in the past.

And I think I made damn good points about lack of white players representation and liberals not calling out lack of diversity there the same way they do for coaches. Have you made a good point yet?

Has it occurred to you, maybe he was in fact, a dork?

Listen, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt for a minute here. I’m not sure you could make a case for there to be more white players and that would make for a better product. Team sports aren’t about equity, like access to college in general actually is.

But there’s no doubt in my mind that having more black coaches would be a good thing for the game. Have some black coaches not succeeded? Sure, but probably not because they were black.

First they get a whole month, then they get two whole basketball teams. Why is the media not talking about this more?

I think someone is trying to just ask some questions here, but it's not relevant at all simply because there is zero evidence of white players being prevented from playing basketball in college because of their skin color.

All of which to say, I don't think Red was hired just because he is black. So for this fella to get all riled up seems a little, uh, performative. Which seems apropos and expected given the hit & run OP who is known for this kind of thing.
