Class of 2021 DL Chris Thomas (FL) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (1/1/25)

Not sure about the under performing part. Chris had 43 tackles this season. That is a really impressive number for a DT. Only 1 sack but I think we are looking for him to shut down runs inside. He can do that really well.

I like our two young DTs and a couple of the incoming frosh but my guess is that this guy plays a ton next season, especially against teams that try to power run against us. You need guys like this to beat teams like ND and Tennessee.

Yeah our top DT was Watson with 31 tackles.

The offers coming out of the portal for the 2nd time certainly didn’t match the ones out of HS. Cuse is by far his best portal offer but he’s still a guy you can depend on for 25 snaps or so which is always needed at this position

I don’t focus on the negative. I call it how I see it. I don’t have my orange colored glasses on or am i doom or gloom. I’ve posted here enough where I think that’s evident. Who else was predicting 9 or 10 wins this season? I remember going back and forth with people saying 7 or 8 is realistic. Was I being negative there? I applauded last years recruiting class because it was the best that we had in 20 years. I’m not as high on this class because , well, it’s obvious. I find discussions with people who call it like they see it more interesting than some lame, boring, everything is orange and fine all the time type of poster. Because guess what? It hasn’t been all fine, year after year. So I apologize for pointing out that his offers coming out of the portal didn’t match his HS offers. I even said it was a good pick up and someone you can depend on for snaps.

DT is tough one to judge Stat wise unless you know what the coaches are asking of them. Usually you just want them to set the line and keep the LBs and S clean to run fit

Agreed but that’s why Thomas’ 41 tackles are great production for an inside guy. Regardless of the responsibilities they’re still supposed to tackle the guy with the ball.

I saw 10 wins. But, I am an optimist, I admit it.

They now have a ton of defensive tackles and defensive backs, but few linebackers and edge/defensive end types.

I wonder if they plan to play three tackles at once against those big, power running teams. Then they can surround them with fast, sure tacklers who can fly to the ball.

Not sure how long you have been around here, but focusing on the negative is the least safe posting disposition here.

Anyhow, I hope this kid is good.

Next year is gonna be tough & the joys of beating Miami & 10 wins will be a memory.

Fran will be viewed with a different lens, & fans may question some recruiting misses.

But, if Fran pulls off some upsets, he might be flying high next season too. We'll see.

I predicted 9-3 for the regular season and have a tailgate to prove it! Lol
