Class of 2021 DL Chris Thomas (FL) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (1/1/25)

I’m amazed at the power generated by humans his size, and more certain than ever we need men like him to compete with the best of the best. I’m really glad he’s going to suit up in orange, hopeful that our defense is going to be better, especially along the DLine. Welcome…

This team will have to have the defense give the offense a chance to win games next year if there’s no Kyle. It starts up front with the big boys like him. Nice work staff
Cont to shore up the D, offensive line, see if KM is a go while heavily relying on the Run game next year, hopefully LA, YW, RPO with the QB if not Kyle

I don’t focus on the negative. I call it how I see it. I don’t have my orange colored glasses on or am i doom or gloom. I’ve posted here enough where I think that’s evident. Who else was predicting 9 or 10 wins this season? I remember going back and forth with people saying 7 or 8 is realistic. Was I being negative there? I applauded last years recruiting class because it was the best that we had in 20 years. I’m not as high on this class because , well, it’s obvious. I find discussions with people who call it like they see it more interesting than some lame, boring, everything is orange and fine all the time type of poster. Because guess what? It hasn’t been all fine, year after year. So I apologize for pointing out that his offers coming out of the portal didn’t match his HS offers. I even said it was a good pick up and someone you can depend on for snaps.
Lots of people saw this as a 8-10 win year. Nothing unique there.

As it played out 8-10 was what many expected and we got. How we got there though

UNLV/OHIO turned out to be much better than the gimmee games people picked as wins

We lost to Stan which almost no one expected

We went on the trips to the WC and won 3 times. How many teams have every done that?

We beat a top 10 team in Miami.

It is pretty wild that we were 3 and 0 against the Pacific time zone.

That's challenging for Eastern NFL teams even.

Class of 2021 DL Chris Thomas (FL) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (1/1/25)

COMMITED> TO SYRACUSE 1/1/2025

HERD FILE: Transferred to Marshall from Florida. Thomas appeared in one game during the 2022 season while at Florida, recording one tackle in the win over Eastern Washington. A three-star prospect in the Class of 2021, Thomas finished with 88 tackles, 31 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a senior in helping Dunbar H.S. to the 6A Region Finals. Thomas chose Marshall over Temple.

Former Marshall defensive lineman Chris Thomas Jr. has transferred to Syracuse, he announced on social media Wednesday. Thomas is the older brother of three-star SU 2025 commit Eric Thomas. The defensive linemen played in 12 of Marshall’s 13 games this season, recording 43 tackles and a sack.

The Fort Myers, Florida, native was a three-star prospect out of high school and a three-star transfer, per 247Sports. He was the No. 61 overall player coming out of Florida and committed to the University of Florida. He appeared in just one game with the Gators over two seasons before transferring to Marshall last offseason.

Thomas was part of the mass exodus of players from Marshall after former head coach Charles Huff left for Southern Mississippi. Thomas is the first defensive line transfer to commit to Syracuse out of the portal thus far.

I was trying to research how 43 tackles ranked amongst DTs in College football. Im not a researching wizard.

I did find out we have 4 of the top100 DL recruits from the high school ranks coming in. That is very good for Syracuse.

Add Thomas, what we already have plus the youngins and that is the best on paper DL by far for a very long, long time.

Im assuming at least the top 100 tacklers were LBs, Barron is 100th with 88. LB/S obvs.

He’s right around #50 of guys listed as DT or DL. Many of the top 50 are from lower level schools. Hard to say if some of the DLs are really defensive ends. The top P4 DT I could find is a kid from Texas with 53.

Thank you!
I safely predict he will at least be a very solid contributor.

See
Just have to stop Hastings from lining up off sides. lol
i seeour guys a mile from the ball. I keep thinking we need to move up. If he does line up off sides he needs glasses cause all ya gotta do is look down the line at the ball. If he does it a lot thats a brsin problem lmfao
