this is the equivalent of feeding flesh to the base. a sacrificial kill if i've ever seen one. Someone higher than the TE coach and DL coach needs to answer for this. At least get Gilbert out

We have enough to work with next season with the right system. With Vet and Rhino back things will be better next year blocking.

IMO we should be using 2 TEs. One it will help with blocking and 2 we don't have enough quality WRs anyway. Let Gadsden/Alford be one WR and Jackson/Williams the other. When you do use 3 WR sets you have Pena. Use some play action and throw more to the TEs and RBs. I would also have some more 2 RB sets with Lutz or Hough. Lutz can catch it out of the backfield and Hough is a 2nd option to hand it off to.

IMO an O like this will maximize what we have on the roster.

Forgot to add use play action. Also run routes no more choice routes. Get our WRs and QB on the same page. Too often we have seen Dungey, Tommy, and Shrader hesitate to pull the trigger. IMO that comes from these routes. Take the guessing out.

I can't argue that I wouldn't find our openings all that attractive under the current circumstances

This isn’t good enough. Wildhack is telling us 1 bowl in 6 seasons isn’t enough for dismissal.

There are good assistants elsewhere who got fired when the head guy got fired. There are younger guys looking to move up to a P5 program. There are always more candidates than jobs. Not many can afford to look down their nose at a possible short-term gig. People in this business know that getting fired is part of the job. We might not be at the head of the line for the most wanted assistants but I'm sure Wildhack is also thinking here that boosting the pay packet of the assistants is still a better deal than eating 3 years of Babers' salary.

Halfway through the season I felt like Reynolds was retained after 2020 in order to get the 6th year seniors to stay. The DL really struggled against decent OLs. Hopefully the next coach can bring a bit more player development to the team.

Reynolds is his stepfather I believe. Coley probably has one more season left, two max.

In my mind, there are only 3 “untouchable” coaches (still) on this staff -

Tony White, Swag Daddy, and Schmidt.

Probably in that order, although I could swap Monroe & White.

Anybody and everybody else is fair game, and would really need to justify their continued employment.

Maybe the LB coach gets a pass too.
