Not what I was told by an SC contributor, but I only know what he contributed, I don't know the total number, nor will I ask. Not my place. I'm sure you know more about it than me. SC was always his dream school and when SC made it clear he was a take there was some fast movement amongst their NIL contributors to make it happen. All I got.

I’m guessing that though there is a limit and if some school comes in with stupid money we’re going to back off. Is that basically how it’s been working? For people on the outside like me it’s been murky because there’s also the program prestige factor (SEC,B1G) that plays a part with some of these offers where I’m sure even if we match and put out all the stops we’re still going to lose some.

The three big guys we lost to NIL… Jesse Edwards, Duce and Jahad are all that case….not sure it works out well for them in the long run…

Did Linton just want to leave or was he thinking he could get more NIL? That one surprised me. I don't believe Geer left over NIL, I don't know it to be true, just know that if SC is his landing place they're not exactly rolling out the brinks truck for him..

A random NIL comment/rant but can someone explain to me why I can't walk into the merch store in the Dome (or any merch store on Marshall street) and buy a jersey with any kids' name on it ? Granted having 85 football player jersey's is probably not realistic but my kid couldn't buy a Mintz jersey or a Spallina jersey this past season - in the Dome. If you want a basketball jersey you can buy a rack full of McNamarra's and if you want a lacrosse jersey they have racks of Gaits. Whoopdeedoo, just what a 13 year old kids wants. Who's Gait? So then you're explaining he’s a hall of famer who played with a leather helmet in the black and white era.

How on earth can you at least not have your current 'star' players on the shelf ? Tucker? nope, Shrader? nope, Spallina, Mintz, Edwards, Hiltz nope nope and nope. Someone like Geer - lol, forget about it.

And forget about youth sizes. They have plenty of XL's though. You'd think on game day they'd be sure to re-stock ALL sizes.

Their merchandising is so second rate it's hard not to think everything else is to. Might sell more merch if you actually market the current players and have the range of sizes that people (kids) want.

I couldn't even get a "2022 Pinstripe Bowl" t-shirt in the Dome, 2 weeks before the game.

Their inventory is less than optimal.

Not true because my kid ended up with a Bell jersey. And I believe they had Girard’s. They might’ve had Mintz except it was size 3x.

But also if someone isn’t working deals with the private vendors that’s a huge black hole. It’s mind boggling what a miss this is. Both shops on MStreet had Gaits 22 but no one else. It’s bizarre. I doubt I’d have this problem in Knoxville but I havent checked.

We wont know the truth but it could be the pressure to stay home, perhaps a childhood fandom for the hometown team and finally being courted by the program you grew up with as a kid had more than a little to do with this decision. What a dream, to have a chance to be the quarterback of your hometown team, that is worth something still.
