This would underscore their preference to do this on the cheap-They both had years of experience
Because they must have thought Frost brought the best value? Did you or anyone else here want Frost? You're talking out of both sides of your mouth if you are.
Interesting counter-leak. If true I wonder what the real holdup was?
Frosty wanted a 2 year deal. Maybe temery can plaster McCallister's tweets up on the top of the website next to one of the banner ads.Interesting counter-leak. If true I wonder what the real holdup was?
Makes me want to see UCF have another perfect season.Interesting counter-leak. If true I wonder what the real holdup was?
Wow, if thats the case Frosty was obviously not a legit candidate. Two years is a joke-Frosty wanted a 2 year deal. Maybe temery can plaster McCallister's tweets up on the top of the website next to one of the banner ads.
Makes complete sense to me. Others are having trouble wrapping their heads around it.Tough concept to grasp I guess
Exactly. At this point, it's more important to get Mr. Right than to get Mr. Right Now.Things may have started to slow down a bit and Coyle may want to talk to a few of the coaches who can't speak until Saturday evening/Sunday morning. This is going to be fun!
It makes 100% sense for Coyle to wait. Ash can always be a fallback option, so no need to settle just yet. If he really has already settled on Ash, which I'm skeptical of, he would've missed the chance on a few other high profile guys.
This is no time to rush this decision. He missed out on his overwhelming #1, so now it's time to regroup. A few of the targets remain coaching in their conference championship games, so I think things will pick up heavy steam by the end of Sunday. Patience is a virtue. Especially now. Let's get the right guy, not the easiest guy.
K, good talk folks. Now back to bed...
Ash and Meyer. Keep the gang together.Just offer $6 million with incentIves and get Urban Meyer.
This doesn't have to be complicated
yea shafer was only getting 263,000 from the school directly with img paying 1.2mil
Interesting counter-leak. If true I wonder what the real holdup was?
Actually (1/2) referred to the fact that this was the first of two tweets on the subject.Did you read the tweet, it clearly says "years" meaning length of the deal and he shows (1/2) meaning he wanted 1 or 2 years less than what we offered or he wanted a 1 or 2 year deal which any AD would have passed on.
Actually (1/2) referred to the fact that this was the first of two tweets on the subject.
If we hire a coordinator, I think $1.8 mil is reasonable with a $2.5 mil assistant pool bucket.
If we hire a previous HC, I think $2.4-2.7 mil is bottom line with a similar assistant pool bucket as above.
Rocco, did you wink when you wrote that...I'd swear I saw you wink. Something is going to be announced today you're just trying to calm down the masses...right? Keep expectations down, that's it isn't it?
If Syracuse wants to play with the Big Boy's it's time to . . . . or get off the pot.If your looking for bargains than go on Ebay!!The longer you wait the less you have to pick from. This nickel & dime crap is Bull. . . . .!!!We are going to get left out in the cold again.I'm 77 years old and can't wait another 15 years for you to rise from the dead.!!!!Just Do It.!!!!!
Makes perfect sense. But what happens if he targets someone who wins this weekend and has a bowl game to coach? Do we assume the new coach walks away from their team before their bowl or wait until January?I am saying this cautiously, very cautiously, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised when Coyle makes a hire. I really have no idea who that will be, but it makes ZERO sense for him to rush into the Ash hire with all of these other targets coaching through their respective conference championship games this weekend. If guys like Babers, Brohm and Montgomery, among others, all happen to say "no thanks", then he can use Ash as a fallback option. I don't think he is going anywhere, but who knows on that either.
My whole stance right now is that Coyle has the money to spend and can afford to wait until Sat night. Is the money going to be the same as a VT or Clemson? No way, but it will be far more competitive than what Shafer and Marrone were making. Another thing to remember is that the contracts are pure hearsay. As a private school, Syracuse does not have to release contract details. You can find out what the coach is making once they file their extended return, but that will be awhile from now.
I have blind faith in Coyle and the more and more I use hindsight, I am glad Frost didn't pull the trigger on us. His real intentions are quite obvious, so we dodged a bullet. I would like to see Coyle sign someone to a 5-6 year deal with heavy buyout options in the event of a poach. Enough of the 3 and 4 year tenures. Syracuse is very similar to Duke and the next coach will need at least 4 years to get the team where they need them to be. Just my opinion.
