We have the highest rated centers for the the last there years? Melo I believe was One so is christmas now DC!! Now Thts a rotation.

Well, he was the top rated center for awhile, but has dropped off. Still, the point is well made. Of course, I still don't think Rak will ever play the 5 except in an emergency situation.

Well, a couple guys have passed him, but your point is a good one - we haven't recruited big man talent at this level, this consistently EVER. And to think we could add Noel and Goodluck next year. REE-DICK-YOU-LOUS.

All of which would only help with our chances at Dakari

Not only that, he was the top ranked freshman and sophomore in the nation 3 and 2 years ago, respectively.

Getting highly ranked big men is great, and hopefully Coleman can step right in and bring some low post scoring

Long way from jermey mcneil nd craig forth ehh lol But seriously having two or 3 bigmMen is dominate in college basketball, you just dont see them too often and we have two very good ones now. There has been a dwn slide on big men in the NBA this last decade. Most of them came from HS or over seas (Howard,K.G,Bynum,Ming,Gasol,Amare, perkins,Dirk,Scola,Blatche) my point is there has been only 4 good centers that I can think of that have came out of college in recent Memory.. Bogut, Lopez and the two from Florida Al Holford and Noah. Now we got two more coming from Cuse!

Just remember one thing. Forth and McNeil = national championship. Whatever their limitations, they were important part of our Championship team. Just don't like to see them dissed.

Im with you, jeremy is one of my favorites SU players of all time

No diss I totally agree, I was gonna put onuaka* in there too but figured I'll get a similar reaction. Cant disagree the talent is night and day tho. NBA>playing over seas. Although over seas dont seem like a bad idea right now haha

There are some other solid centers who came from the college ranks, but yes, this is a far cry (national reputation-wise) than even just 10 years ago.

And Jeremy McNeil was literally one of the first people I met at Syracuse our freshman year, so I'll always have a soft spot for the kid. I was leaving a math placement test, since I hadn't signed up for a math course (didn't know I was required to do so), and about 10 seconds after I leave this big dude comes out and asks me where I'm headed. We end up walking to Schine together, he introduces himself as Jeremy from Texas, and I say, "Jeremy McNeil?" He was completely stunned that I knew who he was, since he wasn't a particularly big time recruit. We wound up having lunch together, and while we never actually became friends or anything, he was always super friendly whenever he saw me on campus. Whenever he came into Konrad's and spotted me he made it a point to come over and give me one of those handshake/hug deals. Freshman year, when he knew how much of a fan I was and that I had thought about trying to become a manager, he told me he had talked to Bernie about opening up another spot for me, and apparently Bernie had agreed to do so. For whatever reason, I politely turned it down. One of my biggest regrets of my time at Syracuse, since if I had stuck with it, I would have most likely been one of the senior managers running out onto the court in New Orleans and jumping on the pile after the National Championship.

(Note: I have no idea if Jeremy actually did convince Bernie to get open a manager spot for me, but that's what he told me...I really wish I had followed up on that. I had wanted to look into it for awhile, since a kid my brother played AAU ball with, along with his brother, were both managers at Duke and eventually walked on...they even had a CBS piece about them during the tournament)

Trust me, I'm still kicking myself. Then again, how could I have known that my senior year we'd be winning the national title?

I guess on the bright side, I got to watch the game with a beer (or, well, several) and was down on Marshall Street celebrating with my brother (who was at Syracuse law at the time).

Exactly. As much as I would have loved watching it from the sidelines (which actually, the more I think about it, would have been unreal), I'll never regret watching the title game from the cozy confines of 319 Euclid Avenue with friends and lots and lots of cheap beer.
