I'm thinking about subscribing myself to The Athletic.. Who here subscribes?

If you do, what do you think about content and app usability?

I subscribe. It is good. Matt is doing a nice job providing Syracuse based content and there are a lot of other good articles on a variety of sports. Mostly features, if you like that kind of thing.

I started subscribing a few months ago and have been very happy with it. The first 6 months/year is very reasonably priced and gives some good behind the scenes content. However, in terms of Syracuse, it's mostly basketball, so if you're looking for a ton of SU football, I haven't seen that yet.

I subscribed prior to having a dedicated beat reporter for Syracuse and enjoyed it. With the additional Syracuse content, it's been even better. Big fan. I also like the app as it gives me good notifications and I set my feed for only the stories/content I like. So makes easy catching up after not reading it.

Appreciate the responses, guys. Thanks for the input. You almost have me convinced to take the plunge

I just got an email offering 50% off for a year? Is that what is making you considering it?

I just chose not to re-up my subscription yesterday. While I found the writing to be top flight, I found that I only read a few articles a month, so I passed on renewing.

Give it a spin if you get a promo.

I have it and like it a lot. If anyone is a Sprint or T-Mobile customer, there was a free year of it in yesterday's T-Mobile Tuesday thing along with free MLB package for the year. Was the 1st Tuesday that Sprint customers were allowed to take advantage of which was excellent timing.

This got me thinking, anyone know what Dave Rahme is up to now? Wouldn't he have been ideal to do SU beat stuff for something like The Athletic?

If you follow English premier league they have some great stuff in that space as well.
I think it works if you follow a ton of sports

He was covering CNY area LAX for IL, but he hasn't been active since 2015.

Yes and I'm happy with the content and the price, best part is no annoying ads and commercials

FYI - anyone with T-Mobile including former Sprint customers can pick up a year of the Athletic for free through the T-Mobile Tuesdays app.

I think he is 65 now. Looks like he is pretty much retired. Hope all is well with him. Good guy and a talented writer.
