Good question. And I will preface, I do not know the answer. But following this program as long as I have, reading hundreds of articles, books, etc., this would seem to not be Boeheim's way.

I am a supporter, but I think that this even-keeled, some-things-are-obvious-they-need-not-be-spoken approach is a part of SU's excellent performance in big games through the years. I see some of the rah-rah, football coach speeches as counter productive (exception, Dino postgamers).

JB has always said he doesn't tell the players that they need to win a game or do this to make the tourney. Just focus on winning the game that day and that is all.

Wasn't there a story from 2006 BET, where JB supposedly told the team at halftime of the Georgetown game that "the committee called and said they are out if they don't win." That could have been bogus but I've heard that from players and coaches in various media articles.

I think the players tell JB. He’s been here for nearly half a century and probably will be here for as long as he likes. For many of the players, the next game...well...may be their last!
