Brent's podcast is really well done. And it's impressive because he is good solo (which is incredibly hard) and with guests.

I think he does a great job of incorporating the feelings of the fans vs his own perceptions and is pretty articulate.

I don't need 2-3 hours of content. Give me 30 mins or 45 mins of quality content and I'm happy.

Completely agree. I don’t understand the hate for him honestly. He’s obviously passionate about Syracuse sports. He’s pretty knowledgeable. He's not so outrageous in his views as some are claiming. Pretty mild compared to many personalities. And he often shares an opinion which is consistent with many, many fans of the program.

At a minimum, he provides a perspective. And I find it refreshing vs the more sanitized thoughts of the majority of journalists. If you don’t like him you don’t have to listen to him.

Once again, Brent is fine. His subscription service is a bargain and his podcasts are good. The overall quality of SU sports coverage is lousy, to be kind, and he’s among the best. Make of that what you will.

If I made a list of the top 1,000 things wrong with SU athletics Brent wouldn’t make that list.

Also lots of really good people here who actually support the university with a big picture mindset, where winning is obviously vital but how we win is the most important thing and that is bigger than numbers. Brent shares a lot of info with his subscribers before it goes public. And it's valuable to have most of my SU news consolidated to a single, easily digestible source.

Free? The guy's trying to make a living. Good journalism costs. Free is why local media is on life support, which is horrible for our society.

Agreed. Hell, Dan Shaughnessy built his entire career on being a print troll. The guy used to trash Pedro Martinez and David Ortiz, two of the 5 most beloved athletes in Boston sports history. Actually, they might be 2 of the 5 most beloved people in Boston history, alongside Paul Revere and JFK.

It's why I can only laugh when people here talk about Syracuse fandom and media being "negative". Spend some time in Boston and you'll realize how outlandish that is. I grew up with the biggest sports talk show in town (The Sports Huddle) relentlessly trashing Wade Boggs, Jim Rice and Roger Clemens. You know, just 3 hall of famers.

I don't even stream Boston sports radio because of how absurdly over-the-top negative it is.

Meanwhile, Axe got fired from his radio gig because, as best I can tell, he kept criticizing Boeheim when we were on our 5th straight regular season of irrelevance. I'm clutching my pearls just thinking about it.

Loved the Sports Huddle with Eddie Andelman, the Mark guy (Gutkin?) and the third guy with the Irish name, I can't remember the name. I remember Eddie calling Sox GM Lou Gorman "Rumplestiltskin" because Lou mumbled and was always disheveled in appearance.

Going back to Axe, I like him and don't get the animosity. Any writer that focuses on Syracuse stuff that I can read from 350 miles away and provide any insights (good or bad) is good with me. I don't have to always agree.
