No they don't. They appear to have the #1 seed locked up for the NCAA show. And normally, given their position, I wouldn't care if they cut down the net at MSG. A loss means more rest and practice and less chance of injury. But I want them to cut down that net. I want this team to have that BE championship in their pocket. Another accomplishment to hold onto whatever happens after.

They dont need rest... they need to sharpen the talons. Avoid injury. I want nets

Fearless prediction:
If SU loses to UConn Thursday and UNC wins the ACC tourney, the committee will slot UNC as the #2 overall in the opposite bracket from UK. SU will be in the bracket with UK to play them in the semi. An SU loss gives the committee the excuse they need to set up the title game they (and CBS) really want.

that's my fear also. we are one of only 2 teams absolutely locked into a 1. but i still don't think we are a lock for the east. i can also see the ncaa putting unc in the east if they win the acc tourney and we lose tomorrow. they'll send us as the 1 in one of the other 2 regions.

I know this was just a "fearless prediction"...but you could not be more wrong. Not gonna happen this year. Way too much distance between the top 2 teams this year and the rest. Right now, no one knows who the 3rd best team in the country is. A loss to Uconn would mean nothing to me or the committee. And I could not care less about anything than the Big East Tournament, its meaningless. We've won them before and likely will never play in one again.

Based on what we did this regular season plus the comments that Hathaway made I think we are safe for the East.

We are going to be in the Big East next year, Cincy. So we will also be in the BET.

LOL UNC wins the acc and they take over the East with a Syracuse loss?

There is no way UNC is the #2 overall. They are minimum of 2 games behind us and UK when all is said and done, and they lost by 30.

you've never seen the committee do this bracketing thing before?

I dont think the 1-2 were this far ahead of everyone. Different than 2010.

We got Jeff Hathaway on conference call saying SU and UK are clearly ahead of everyone else. I've never even heard of a committee member doing that before, let alone the boss.

Losing to a crap team in UL twice would put some doubt in their mind, along with losing AO.

**** rest, did UConn need rest last year?

Exactly, this "rest and practice and less injury" stuff is pure nonsense. In another thread last week, I listed the last 10 NCAA champs, 6 of them were the tourney champs of their conference. The rest and practice thing is a myth.

If we don't get the #1 seed in the East regardless of what happens tomorrow, I guess I can forget about the security deposit on my apt because my head is gonna explode all over the place.

clearly ahead for a 1 seed. where does it say that the second 1 seed has to be in the east? they've screwed with brackets before. if in their mind they think unc is the 2nd best team right now and is the hot team, it is not inconceivable to see them place them in the east and move us out. they would use the reasoning that we lost to uconn and weren't playing as well as unc was. unc would have 4 loses but we would have 2. it's not that far a stretch. do NOT trust these guys. they use perception as much as anything.

coming off the first ever 1 loss season in the Big East, I don't only doubt, I know they won't do that.

We are a lock for a one seed in the East. There is no other scenario. We are so balanced that not even an injury will change that.

Can I dislike a post? Please don't bring up an injury scenario like this.

My bad. By no means was I implying a scenario.

My point was that the tourney chair basically said that an injury would be the only thing that would change the top two teams. We don't have anyone that would warrant that rationale. Kentucky does.

I wholeheartedly disagree... We would not be nearly the same team without a lot of our players...

like cusetown, you must forget all the years that the acc got favored over teams including su when it came to seedings and the board would lite up What. i am sure we will be the 1 in the east, but i don't trust the selection committee one bit to always do what is right. you can already hear it in the talking heads voices how great unc is. there are even threads here complaining about the talk unc is getting. as others have said unc wins the acc, they may want them and uk on opposite sides.

I want Syracuse to win the BET so they are hot going into the dance, and to complete the second leg of the DREAM SEASON. THats the list.

The notion that the committee wants UNC for ratings is narrow minded grassy knoll talk that has sadly become the staple of the Syracuse fanbase. Oh gee, who have been the two highest rated teams ALL YEAR? You Think the committee doesn't want to set that up? Naaaaah that crazy.
