Donnie Done For Season

As far as I'm concerned if I'm Red I put an NIL deal in front of him now and get his answer before the ACC tournament.
That way Kline will know what he is dealing with. Force his decision now.

Check out the comment from Mr. Anthony…

He has a rooting interest in Donnie being around next year. Promising.

I’m sure people will give me a hard time for this, but Cuse MBB saying “we . . . will support him through his recovery process” sounds like they already know he’s gone. Like obviously they will support him if he’s here next year so why say that unless it’s known he’s transferring. Disagree?

That wasn’t directed to you. I meant that for the board. My bad
Why not? It was Cusefan0307 that said your sources have no pulse on this. It wasn’t your bad and it should have been directed at him/her.

What is wrong with you?

Lol Dude you gotta start doing yoga or something between reading posts and replying. It would help you remember to focus on posting towards the program and less on being confrontational to other posters. You’ll feel better.
Between posts I like to use the stair climber.

It's arguable. But, even if Donnie come out with a statement tomorrow that says he will be back, that means nothing until the portal signup closes.

Didn't they try that with Eddie?

No offense to you at all, but it wouldn't be the first time our hoops staff was caught by surprise.
Maliq was coming back until he wasnt
We were getting Leffew until he went to UGa

I’ll believe Freeman is coming back when I see him in a Syracuse uniform in the preseason until then I just don’t see him staying

I think another layer to add to the discussion is how often it seems like the coaching staff is misreading recruiting situations over the past few years (haha honestly may go all the way back to Quade Green). A recruit visits, the report from staff to insiders is full confidence, visit went amazing, silent verbal/commitment, they’re basically coming AND… we aren’t even in the recruit top 5. I firmly believe the staff really believes they ARE in the running/in a good place… that disconnect from reality is maybe the most disconcerting part of all

That's exactly what I was referring to with my comment. I don't doubt at all what Bulldog is telling us. I do have doubts about the coaches feel for where things really stand with players based on the history you refer to.

I don't know why it took a month for the announcement on his shutdown, but it's certainly been a bit of a rollercoaster ride as to how we got here.

Whatever has been going on behind the scenes has brought us here and it's an odd situation from the outside looking in.

We went from day-to-day to unknown return... and then statements that it's back in Donnie's camp to decide, then the odd announcement that we'll know today or by morning and then 48 hours later a shutdown announcement.

Perhaps what you mention above has already taken place over the past month and has been part of a NIL re-negotiation?? If something like that was going on, it is unfortunate having to deal with it during an actual season, but we are in a brave new world of NIL free agency and the players are now holding the cards. Hopefully, Kline was helping manage this situation, if so. Something like that is especially why you need to have a GM now.

I don't understand all the cloak-and-dagger around any of it though other than for the fact he came in heralded as a generational talent. Re-negotiating NIL and/or planning a portal exit mid-season isn't exactly a great PR strategy but I guess it can happen now?? Such is life. I guess It's not my place to know, I suppose. The handling on this situation just feels new, different, and weird.

Someone show me one thing that says he’s transferring… where did this even come from? Honestly talk about making stuff up. There isn’t one ounce of anything that says he’s leaving. If he ends up getting money to leave so be it, but this whole thing that he hates SU or wants out so bad is completely made up
I think many of us completely understand your perspective.

With absolutely no inside knowledge, I would guess he will get offered about as much money as anyone in CBB if he decides to leave. There should be no "if" in that statement about getting money to leave. The "if" is whether we can/will match other schools' likely offers and if he wants to be on a team that is more likely to be in contention for a championship. He can like Syracuse and the staff and those other factors can still be in play. They are not mutually exclusive.

Syracuse tanked his draft stock. Of course he's making a business decision to not have another poor shooting game for us etc.

Dude entered the year on every single mock as a first round pick and now he couldn't even sneak into the second of course he's going to be very upset he chose us and not any other program.
Did Syracuse get him injured to?
