Class of 2014 Donnie Foster (GA) Preferred Walk-on

Donnie Foster briefly roomed with Denzel Ward at IMG Academy. last year The two are set to become teammates at SU: http://ow.ly/upXTT

"Foster sought what Ward had. He wanted a chance to play college football at the highest level. By the time signing day rolled around, Foster was looking at offers from Ivy League schools such as Harvard and Dartmouth and a few Football Championship Subdivision schools. Several FBS schools, including Mississippi State, Georgia, Auburn and Georgia Tech showed interest until securing players higher on their wish lists but still offered Foster a preferred walk-on role, he said."

Kid could have gone to Harvard but wanted to compete at a FBS school! Bravo Mr. Foster! That takes guts and courage! Happy to have you Orange!

A player with his size, and smarts, getting himself stronger should be a great center, by the time he leaves.

I'm having a tough time reconciling this kids junior year interest with him being disregarded this year.

I'm hoping that preferred walk-on or no, that he is one of those kids with upside who may have just slipped through the cracks, and projects as a decent prospect. If that happens, then we may have gotten a steal.

Edit: never mind--hadn't seen this article from earlier today:

Kid is huge...look at the size of his paws!
Wow no kidding, No surprise his HS coach made him a Center.

Mods: Can we please add Foster to our Commits database in Additional content? Thank you.

His maturity level is off the charts. And you can't teach that size. What a great pickup!

agreed, seems we are bringing in a bunch of preferred walkons this year. At least 3 by my count, which is really impressive at a private school like Syracuse. If the kids have a great attitude like Donnie, then the skys the limit! He can really help set the tone, and erase any entitlement that might exist. So good for team chemistry!

wow. it's not like this is a token to a senior. he must be doing pretty good. congrats

Good point. Unless they told him this is a one year thing, it means he's legit in the eyes of the staff. Could be the heir apparent at center for 2016. (Assuming Trudo will play there this year)
