Donnie Freeman injures foot

seriously sitting on the sidelines won't climb you up the draft boards. not like he was even averaging good numbers against weak opponents before he went down. if he's playing possum ...laying low ...whatever ...he's doing himself no favors. i highly doubt that's the case. his people are smart enuf to read the tea leafs. i suspect he plays again or skips the draft.
based on body of work alone judah was way more draftable. and we know where he is.
He is averaging 13 and 8 as floor stretching 4 who oozes potential. I do not believe he would get drafted and playing will not help because the more he's played for Red the more his stock has dropped. The hard truth is why would he play with the risk of reinjury or dropping his stock even more when he's on cheap deal for a bad coach and bad team. If he portals he will get paid.

Technically the NIL isn't to play, so he'd be fine. The collective and whoever signed deals with him can stop payment, but that's a bad look and would hurt recruiting. Whole thing is awful. Imagine you contributed a big chunk of his NIL and he decides to shut it down. Woof.
SU in order probably spent NIL

If what you posted previously is correct we cant afford to fire Red as it would cost SU $9 Million . The real question is why give unproven coach that type of deal with no outs?
Thye answer is..I don't know. I didn't have anything to do with it. My guess, and it is just that, is that we didn't want to be in a position where he did well and we had to pay up in just a couple of years. That is all I got.

It’s a good guess and likely right. Just goes to show the risk a school like SU faces when they get it wrong. They are stuck. I’m very curious what the balance sheet looks like at the end of the year with an emptier dome than we’ve seen in a very long time. Does $9 million to Red, (btw, this is assuming he got a guaranteed 5-15 million) offset the loss of ticket, merch and concession sales for the next year? Not a good situation at all.

He just hasn't shown anything yet, really.
You always get a raise early in your career by moving to another employer.
I don't begrudge him, but he's hardly a "sure thing".

We seem to only get five star malcontents. Never the 5 star “follow me guys I will take us there” and by doing so make the team great and himself better. Except some kid in 2003. We get the “dynasty” flashing stat stuffers who complain and bring the I in team.

There is zero chance red is getting that kind of money. They hire in the cheap and red is a first time hc with zero experience.

I hope you’re right. I agree SU is cheap, which is why I was very surprised they would have paid him that much as a first time HC.

I've read that he's making between $2M and 3M. Was his original deal 3 years or 5? If three, then the buy out is only 1 year, worst case 3 years left if Wildhack offered a rookie coach with no head coaching experience a 5 year deal.

That would be a very poor business decision, so I would guess that Red has 1 year guaranteed right now, probably with an option or two on the University's part at guaranteed raises.

No idea but here was JBs final year, if this is at all relevant.

Ps, sorry Donny we messed up your thread.
