Donnie Freeman injures foot

We have jumped the shark a bit. Everyone has panic warned everyone he isn’t his dad so much that they’re underrating him. He’d easily be the best shooter on this team. No doubt he needs to get stronger and better defensively. That said if he, Fennell and White are all starting then we will stink again anyway.
They said Elijah would be the best shooter on the team, they said bell would the best shooter on the team, they said Taylor was the best pure shooter they've seen in years, they said buddy wasn't going to be a starter. Ill take my chances ignoring the talent scouts around this program.

This is going to sound funky but it is meant to be an honest question...

Do you think Dad is going to let him sit on the bench while Mom is in the stand with her celebrity friends? Wouldn't it be embarrassing for mom to invite Kim K to the game to watch her son sit the bench and play 10-15 minutes?
Dad isn't the coach. If he deserves to play, he will. If he doesn't, he won't. No matter who is visiting with his mom. And I will believe his mom will be sitting with famous friends in the middle of winter at Syracuse when I see it.

Kiyan is better than all of those guys out of HS. Moore isn’t the first freshman whos struggled.

If I remember correctly Moore was regarded as a better pure shooter coming out of high school compared to Anthony point is you don't know until they make the jump.
I don’t believe that or remember that for a second. Even if he was I don’t understand why people are ready to give up on him so quickly. We’ve had plenty of good players not ready as freshman. He’s not the problem this year.

Not just me. Every HS ranking service. His shooting stats against top competition is better than all of those guys to.
Do you have the stats to back that up? The stats I have show that isn't true.

He shot 32% from three last year on his high school team. He's shooting 25% so far this year and from the AAU stats listed he was at 27% percent over the summer.

Tangential to this, I was looking to see how some of our transfers are doing. Taylor has taken 4 threes and missed them this season. Not per game, not per 40, the whole season. He attempted 144 in his two seasons at SU. He went from a frosh hitting 39% to 30% to 0%. Just a stunning evolution.

He shot 38% last year for Long Island Lutheran.

He shot 32% in the EYBL which IMO he was a ball hog.

This year he’s missed most of the season. I think he’s played 4 games. He was pretty clearly the best player at the Hoophall Classic.

Getting my stats from the official EYBL Scholastic website 2024-2025 Long Island Lutheran Men's Basketball - Overall Team Stats - Nike EYBL Scholastic

And the official EYBL AAU website Nike EYBL - Stats — Nike EYBL

I can also tell you from first hand experience working in the industry that "The Circuit" stats are not accurate.

I am pretty sure I read someplace that Estrella came back from injury then re-injured his foot and went out and had season-ending foot surgery. Not sure I would count on him to be our center but big men with foot problems seem to be our MO.
Not just a Syracuse problem:

See--Walton, Bill; Bowie, Sam; etal.

Shrug. Either is the EYBL site. 5 years ago it was great. It’s gone downhill and not updated nearly as much. LI Lutheran played more than 12 games last year. They were 23-3 and 10-3 in the NIBC. I suspect they want people to pay to get stats on other places.

12 league games, yes. I was providing stats against the "top competition" like you said. Regardless, Choppa's High School shooting stats were much better. Its impossible to know he would be the best shooter on this team by far when his stats now are pretty comparable.

2016 was 8 years ago. The last time SU was ranked during conference play was 2015. In that same time frame Loyola of Illinois had a final four, one fewer tournament appearances (10, 8, 11 seed compared to SU's 11, 8, 11, 10 seeds), and has been ranked during conference play more recently (2022).

Sweet 16s are great, but every game we played was as an underdog and we won a few with legit amazing shooting performances. In 2021, we shot 50% from three for the first two games (29/58) compared to a season average of 34% and then ran into a real defense and shot 21%.
"Real" defense? Sampson's Houston teams have had elite defenses for many seasons.

You can make a good point without resorting to hyperbole.
