Donnie Freeman Injury Updates (Not Out)

I feel for Donnie and hope he's healthy enough to reach his potential someday. He's very talented and was loyal coming back. These guys are giants who put tremendous strain on their legs, knees, and feet...

Good news is the next man up, Sadiq, appears equally talented. Maybe less skilled at the moment but a much more fluid athlete who doesn't appear as brittle. Just needs reps. He's already a menace on D and just needs to rein it in a bit on that end to avoid foul trouble.

Edit: No question losing Donnie is a huge loss for a struggling offense.

Does it say that in the article or are you just saying that?
im just venting. it does not say that in the article and it is not any remote inside info. it stems purely from it happening last year.

What pro career though? Who is paying a guy who can’t stay healthy for half a season? Even embiid played a full season of college ball

Kind of sucks we gave him all that money for 4 games
well Blanko, we are paying for a guy who can't stay healthy for half a season.

Not many where he can make 7 figures though.

Pro ball is always front of mind for every P5 college starter, but I can’t see many teams signing him to any meaningful contract until he can play more than 10 games at a time. He’s not THAT good.
I agree. I guess my point here is, he clearly wants to play pro ball like most. NBA ideally. And when you’ve already had multiple injuries, to a foot (assume) no less, extra caution is necessary.

WHERE IS OUR GUY MATTHEW GUTIERREZ? Need someone to actually pressure Autry about the extent of this injury. Reporters/journalists are supposed to ask some tough questions. This tip toeing around everything now-a-days is garbage. Our best player is hurt in our most important season in years. Let’s hear about it.

Agree about the caution. Just that being overly cautious, or shutting it down prematurely, ain’t gonna help his pro dreams one iota.

Feel bad for Donnie. Seems like a good kid. Big dudes with multiple injuries, especially to their lower half and especially feet is not great.

Besides being our best scorer and getting to the FT line the most, he shot it the best at the line for anyone with more than a couple of attempts.

Hopefully he can make it back.

GL getting a pro career playing 15 games in two seasons. Probably will have to play college ball somewhere to prove he’s healthy to take a flier on.

Well, somehow Chris McCullough can get drafted after only 9 games in college, and Kyrie Irving only 7 games for Duke, I think it was, you never know.

You probably read it here from another poster who saw it on a questionable twitter account.

Well, watching the injury happen, he stepped on another player's foot. That's usually an ankle sprain, but you never know.

One season, not back to back injuries. He’s nowhere to be seen on any draft boards.

HIPAA violations say hold my beer. We dont have any right as fans to know what his issue is. Would you want people knowing what your ailment is? Im sure it will be announced

With how prevalent betting is today, I feel like it can't be long before specific injury reports are required.

You would have to change the federal HIPAA laws. Good luck with that

How'd that work out for the Nets? McCullough played fewer NBA games (59) than anyone else drafted in the 2015 1st round except for the guy drafted immediately in front of him (RJ Hunter - 45). Brooklyn would have gotten a lot more bang for their buck taking shorter PFs like Montrez Harrell or Kevin Looney.

Irving arguably could have gone No. 1 overall out of HS if he was eligible for the draft. Overall he posted a stellar 32 PER in the 11 games he did play, he missed the middle of the season, coming back to play in the tourney. McCullough didn't return, only played a little better than average in more games, but tailed off quite a bit once the non-con was over.
