They still have Goggins at DE? Ugh.

I'm guessing Goggins will be moved around. Play DT on passing downs.

If Walls doesn't make it here, they can't keep both Goggins and Welsh primarily as DEs. #'s won't support it. We'd only have 5 DTs and 4 of them would only be in their 1st or 2nd year with the program.

Whoa. Has Donnie Simmons left the weight room since December? It's amazing what a RS year can do.

and that's bad because?

I prefer 6-0, 280 pound guys at DT, not Rush End. Just my personal preference.

I'm scared poopless about our pass rush. If Chan Jones had trouble getting it done, I don't see a guy barely over 6-0 and under 300 being successful.

I really dont know of any DE's that are over 300lbs. Deon will be fine, greater drive, stronger than hell, quick. I think he will surpirse people. A lot of times the strong side DE is bigger than the weak side in order to stop the run. Agree he will be moved inside for 3rd down possibly.

I thought Goggins was a real bright spot last year, so I have no problem with him playing wherever they stick him on the line. He really showed some great flashes. His future is probably at DT, but based on those testing results, he's one of the fasted (and also the strongest) linemen on the team so I have no problem with him playing on the edge.

I think our base defense has been geared toward one better pass rusher at end, and one bigger run stopper. Then using blitzes from anywhere and everywhere to make up the difference, even when we go to okie on passing downs.

But when I see Sharpe and Simmons as possible starting ends, makes me wonder if some of that philosophy will change a bit to generate more of a pass rush in the base set without so much reliance on the blitz. Just hope the run D doesn't suffer.

Tough to get it done while consistently doubled and triple teamed because Mikhail "I just kind of stand here" Marinovich was on the other side of the line.
