Doom and Gloomers

i added #s to your bullet points to make this easier

1. we started hearing nba in late jan, not a shock
2. see above. both while stupid, made sense
3. please, injuries happen, but fine...bad news
4. a-the-freakin-men!! been waiting on the ban for years
5. see above
6. he was always a 1 & done, injury just put staying in play for some people
7. not shocking and sorta expected
8. not shocking and sorta expected as well

if those things above all bothered you, and helped make you think..what next???!!! then yes...you are a doom & gloomer

the rest of us just said...ahh yes, the cost of doing business here in the Syracuse basketball world. which 4 & 5 star recruits will be coming in then to deliver the next 20 win season???...

I personally didn't think Bryant was going to come here but the consensus was that he was pretty much a lock to come here, may want to check his recruiting thread out.

No, nobody expected the penalties that we received, did you really think we were going to get hit that hard with scholly penalties? Come on.

Injuries do happen, but come on, that is a stroke of awful luck to be down two McDonalds AAs.

Add me to the list as well. I'm usually a pretty optimistic poster/person in general, but a guy can only take so much.

After 25-0 it seemed to be a snow-ball of bad news:

- Ennis to the draft - somewhat unexpectedly.
- Grant to the draft - pretty unexpectedly.
- McCullough hurt after 10 or however many games for rest of season.
- Announcement of NCAA Tournament/Post-season ban.
- NCAA penalties.
- McCullough to the draft - very unexpectedly.
- Transfers of BJ & Ron.
- Bryant to Indiana - a kid from Rochester who staff had recruited for years! (Years!)

I mean, can you blame people for being pessimistic after all that?

And then, on top of all that, Battle announces for Michigan out of nowhere - another guy we were recruiting for years! (YEARS!)

I honestly gotta give the crowd here that managed to stay positive through all this a ton of credit. You were all much "better fans" than I, I guess. Cause not gonna lie...I def did let the pessimism seep in.

You seem like a pretty darn good fan! The difference is many of the fans posting on this board have been living the drama we call Syracuse Orange Basketball for so many years now it takes a lot to upset the apple cart for many of these fans. For me, the extent of the NCAA penalties was a little too stiff in my opinion so that one shook me a bit and still does. The only thing that comes close to the NCAA penalties in recent years for me would be Arinze Onuaku's knee injury in 2010-11 season. That one really hurt bad. But today is another day. And in 2016-17 we will have a 5-star guard with 7'2" red-shirt sophomore center (pinch me!)

no, of course not. but the appeal is in so we still dont know what the real # will be.

and since JB and so i will assume Hop...dont go more than 8 or 9 at best deep, im not really concerned with the # of schollys.

the real problem was the post season ban, but we danced around that pretty nicely. no doom and gloom for that.

that was a unicorn and rainbow outcome made possible by CMC getting hurt.

the lord works in mysterious ways and nobody is bigger than the program.

and the program is chugging along nicely.

UConn winning their 4th title should be on that list also. That was just a shocking twist of the screws.

Remember when the sanctions came down. It was the end of Syracuse basketball as we knew it. Of course it wasn't but that didn't stop people from going all in in panic mode. Hopkins was done. G would go pro. The four recruits would bail. Moyer would renege. None of that happened. The four recruits stayed firm. G stayed for his 5th year. Battle has now come to his senses. Hopkins is the next coach. And we know when. The only blemish is we lost a kid we wanted to Indiana. But that is just about made up for with the addition of Paschal Chukwu. And we also have an appeal going. We have and will survive this.

so dash you're firmly in the pro sanction camp. it's all good. butterflies and rainbows.
