Drama in Louisville... Mack out

Louisville will soon announce they are making themselves ineligible for the NCAAT like SU and Auburn have done and they can use this year as their penalty when its pretty much over.

Of course. They also want to be ahead of everyone else when it comes to hiring their next coach.

UNC and Duke have brand new coaches and Tony Bennett for whatever reason has stalled at UVA. Its actually a great time to make a change. I could see us being better off waiting a year and letting JB have a redemption/farewell tour if Wildhack doesn't feel great about getting one of his top 2/3 targets but if he can get his guy we just have to pull the trigger.

Im only familiar with his record, can you elaborate?

Nevermind, I researched

Are these big deals or no big deal?

The Gaudio issue is a big deal. He's also a lot newer of a coach and has no track record at Louisville. He cheated after the guy before him cheated. He was suppose to clean this up. It's not even close to the same. And Mack has zero ties to Louisville and NEVER won anything there. There's a huge difference.

The timing is interesting. Allegations in October, team is slightly above .500. Was there an internal investigation concluded? My point is, if he's 17-2 in late Jan hes not being fired. The record coupled with the allegation made it alot easier to pay part and not all of his buyout

I'm not seeing this. They're having a down year, but they're winning. Unlike some other schools ...

Plus Tony has a top-ten class coming in next year.

Yeah I am not trying to say that their strong run under him is over just given that they never lose guys to early departures its surprising they have so little talent on their team this year.

We are in shambles at least the teams at the top of the conference aren't really pulling away at the moment and I consider Lville in that group considering how they punked us our last game in the Big East and won the Natty that year and then got Marylands spot.

He’s been mediocre too, but that is not the only reason he would get fired.

I kind of thought of Chris Mack as the kind of guy I might want as coach to succeed Boeheim.
At least he's available now ... I kind of wonder what went on with the assistant he fired trying to extort him. Very weird situation to fire someone in-season.
