Need Joe to let the game come to him and not press too much. He's had a nice start to the year so far. That lineup for much of the 2nd half was really solid defensively and didn't suffer too much on the offensive side. Really nice 2nd half play by everyone. Solid Drexel team that moved the ball well. Refs sucked

That was a good Drexel team. Underrated win.
They had me a bit worried going into half time, but they were not aggressive enough in the first half. I am sure there were a few halftime suggestions regarding improved play. Definitely come out ready to play basketball. You can see Symir and Frank improving but Benny is getting up to speed. You can see the confidence growing with Jesse game by game. I really like what Cole and JB3 add to our game. The team still has lots of room to grow.

Was very impressed with their coaching early. They knew exactly what they were doing in their approach to the zone. Crisp passing and set open shots. One big issue is their big at the foul line never turned to the basket with the ball. Lot of missed easy opportunities. Well coached team though.

Their coach spent time in Ithaca, with the Big Red staff. I'm sure he gained some familiarity with Syracuse 2-3 while at Cornell.

This is a team that, if we get outscored while figuring things out, actually has the capacity to come back fast. I foresee games where we might fall behind early, but someone, Cole/Buddy/JB3/JG3, hell even Benny when he figures it out, getting hot and carrying the team.
We simply have too many good shooters to be shutdown all at once. I really like what I'm seeing from the defense, since that to me is the real barometer of a team. This isn't the Andrew White/John Dillon defense we're playing- we can actually stop folks.

a few thoughts:
-was very impressed by how much more fluid Buddy looks putting the ball on the floor
-Jesse was a real force on the defensive end. He covered the wings extremely well, let alone for a seven footer. JB was fired up on one of those occasions in the first half and gave Jesse big props. You can see how hard he has worked on his offensive game and especially how comfortable he is receiving the ball and going up with confidence.
-we heard in the preseason how improved Frank was and so far that has been the case. He is showing some nice patience and touch around the rim and is also much improved on the defensive board. Obviously free throws remain an issue.
-I think before the transfer portal it would have been unlikely that Benny would have played as many minutes as he did today. But I am very glad he did and I think those minutes will pay big dividends down the road. To me it is pretty obvious that JB understands the new normal and wants to keep Benny as engaged and feeling as involved as possible even down to where he sits next to him on the bench.
-I am really enjoying the Jimmy experience. While on one or two occasions he has shot a three a little early in the shot clock for my liking the kid plays incredibly hard and scores in a manner that you know he has practiced the shots thousands of times. from afar it does not appear that any of the other players are worried about nepotism or anything like that and it does not hurt that he has gotten off to a good start in that regard.
-I know Swider was is a top recruit but he is better and more athletic than I thought and I think he is better than he even knows. When he has a little bit more confidence going to the basket and putting the ball on the floor I think we may see him drop 25 one night.
-lastly as a number of people mentioned this was a really good win. That Drexel team was no joke and they were shooting the lights out. They were not intimidated and it was not like we were awful in the first half. To come out and take care of business so convincingly in the second half is a good sign. With upsets happening all over the country this win should not be underappreciated.

I texted my cousin during the second half that we need to beat the Nova-fifth-scoring-option out of Cole. I know he mentioned during the YouTube series the situation there messed with his confidence a bit.

He should be and easily has the talent to be averaging 15+ points per game, it just seems like he isn’t comfortable doing his thing on a consistent basis yet. I’m giddy to see what he does when he gets into a real groove here.

Jimmy Boeheim is good at basketball. I think some thought he was going to be so so but the kid can play. This team may get out rebounded here and there but I don’t think there is going to be a game where they are out hustled or not giving enough effort. The staff has done an amazing job with this roster

Outrebounded by Drexel.
Not good.
Some odd stats from today‘s game. According to the box score in Syracuse.com, we did out rebound them - 23-21. Those rebound totals have to be some of the lowest I’ve ever seen for a game.

Drexel had just 30 missed field goals for SU to rebound while SU had just 24 fg misses for Drexel to rebound plus 2 rebound opportunities from missed free throws.

Drexel committed 8 fouls resulting in 16 free throw attempts by SU while SU committed 12 fouls resulting in just 6 free throws for Drexel.

Are there any more longer highlights other than the Syracuse orange YouTube page that’s like 2 minutes?

There is a pretty short condensed game version on youtube

This is gonna happen every game lol, just deal with it now
A lot of times the trailing team will crash 4 to 5 players to the boards and take their chances and that's just what Drexel did in the 2nd half also to note shot 63% in the 2nd half not to many misses to go after.
