Duke -7.5 over Cuse…..

I think part of the reason for the spread is Vegas is counting on Syracuse to have a letdown after a big win last week.
That and changing QB’s. No one really knows how good Rickie will be. It’s at home so we should be getting a pick’em IMO. We cover at a minimum and likely win straight out.

I see this as a 31-17 type game. We are the better team and I expect us to play like it. Duke has beaten no one. We smack them in the mouth early and often. The uncertainty around Rickie is one thing, however we ran on Tennessee and Clemson. If we have to we will run it down their throats.

42 - 34 Syracuse

heres the good news, there will be no let down emotionally. We were ahead start to finish and if you think about it they were never in the game, never REALLY threatened. So our team was not emotionally jacked non stop not to mention the halftime delay where they chilled.

That's all so huge because its the non stop hours and hours long adrenaline rush close back and forth games where you're so fired up giving literally all you have physically and emotionally, where you're on edge all game, that is exhausting in every way, shape and form and results in needing days to recover. That aint happening here post clemson.

The fact I'm saying that after a huge historic win shows how far this program has come as usually that's a valid worry having an emotional let down game after that.

Here I Guarantee they are not mentally exhausted from last week so I think they will be ready play one without that worry. If theres a let down it will be the quality of the O on display since angeli went down, but that won't be due to any emotional let down, and after digesting all on here all week I think Collins rises to the occasion after some first series nerves.

From my keyboard to Gods ears

One or 2 delayed blitz by our freshman LB and their QB will hear footsteps every time he goes back to pass.

I loved when old school coaches liked it when players didn't get too excited over a touchdown. "Act like you've been there before" is a great attitude. HCFB knows when to be serious and when to celebrate. I don't see the Orange taking anyone lightly, especially after the UC game. Beating down other teams is fun to watch, and it must be fun to do. Another motivator is having Duke a 7.5 favorite in our own house.

I don’t think it’s that. Maybe some Angeli but also All people read about all offseason was Duke paying 8 mil for the top QB. Duke was predicted to finish 6th in the ACC and Cuse 12th before the season. Despite not doing anything yet this year Duke is still riding that hype and The spread is what people are willing to pay.

For what it’s worth SP+ which I don’t like buying into much says we should win by 4. So the spread is off almost 10 points. That tells me that people think we just played one lucky game.

I remember after Cuse beat Clemson in 2017, Dino Babers seemed to be going on every sports TV show possible the following week. It was as if he had just won the national championship. I remember thinking we might be in trouble the following week(s). We all know how the rest of that season worked out. I like how Coach Fran celebrates the win and then quickly moves on. Always thinking bigger and better things. Even after winning 10 wins his first year, he's talking about the games we didn't win. I love that, that's what successful coaches do.

Or that we won because Clemson is so bad.

They've been mediocre the last 15 years. They are sitting in the same tier as Syracuse, NC State, Pittsburgh but often mentioned in higher esteem.

Well beat them and Haynes King again this year, and they'll continue to be a disappointment.
Quick Google search...GT has 7 wins vs. ranked teams as an underdog since Key took over. No other team in the country has more than 5. No ACC team has more than 3. They took Georgia to 8 OTs last season before losing or they would have had an 8th. During that span, GT is 16-6 ATS as dogs, including 12 straight up wins. That's the most wins as a dog of any Power 4 team in the last 3 years.

Maybe they are overrated, but there are impressive performances behind the hype.

If we run a similar defensive game plan to what we ran against Clemson, then I like our chances.

And we will, almost assuredly. This is Fran's challenge. DART being put to the test.
It is HARD to not bask in the glow of success. Especially for 19 and 20 year-olds dudes.

I am really worried about his game, and it has almost nothing to with Rickie being behind center. Duke is solid-to-good. Mensah is very, very talented. Likely one of the top 2-3 QBs in the nation.

I hope we can ground ourselves, adhere to the principles of DART and eke out a win. Showing up Saturday in the same clothes we wore at Clemson won't get it done.

I think we ride Willis and Nixon. Still take some shots with our WR''s, but for the most part we tell the big fellas to lead the way. Chew clock and keep their QB off the field.
NCSt hit big on bubbles, if Bobbie is ready maybe he shows up there.

I was driving around yesterday between York PA and Lancaster running errands. I was wearing a Syracuse shirt, and three times guys commented about the Clemson win, Syracuse looks like they might be back, Fran Brown is the real deal, etc. That NEVER happened with Dino as coach. I think part of the reason is any time we had a big win or any national attention, we had a terrible game under Dino and everybody figured it was just the same old Syracuse . Following up a ten win season with a 3-1 start with a win over Clemson has a level of attention nationally we never achieved with Dino. The Duke game this week is HUGE, because people are paying attention to Syracuse now.

That was the plan against Clemson. A powerful offense cannot score while it does not have the ball. The key for Clemson is that we only had one big play due to missed tackles--the long run before halftime. That was a play that goes for a momentum-swapping TD all too often last year & Tennessee. We caught him and stopped him. We tackled very very well. You can give up 2 first downs on a drive... but if you are tackling and those drives total 25 yards... that is still a punt (assuming a start from the 25). Dabo punted from our 40.

Agreed, on both counts.

And I expect both of those rationales to be blown out of the water this Saturday.

I'm looking at this week as a key point in this program's turnaround. Have we built a deep team that can survive a key injury? Is it a fluke when we beat a solid team on the road? Can we remain consistently good? Do we lay an egg at home in front of a big crowd like we have in the past? This week will tell me a lot about where we are at.

100%. Gotta win this one to continue momentum for the program
