Duke opens as a “pickem”

Has settled at -2.5 for now. Can get +115 on ML
I'd take a run at the money line before taking the points. I think either way it's a decisive win and not a last second thing. if we play well, we'll win by 2 TDs. if we are completely inept of offense, we probably lose by the same as the defense gets worn out.

Really? +125 is a pretty good opportunity if you are even 50/50 about us winning the game. I'd play it at that price.

Pick 'em if you got 'em

FWIW I listened to Paul Stone on VSIN this morning and he likes the Orange. He thinks SU should be favored by 3. He is regarded as one of the besr college football handicappers in the biz. A few weeks ago he had SU covering against Pitt as his best bet.

I think there will be bumps with the kids in the secondary but we should be able to win this one by more than a FG

its a strange line, given we beat them by 40 last yr on the road. they are 0-4, if anything our D has played better than people though, we have been causing TOs against a team that has had a ton. is poor oline play a reason for be a dog in this?

Go listen to the "locked on" podcast from this morning. They do a good job breaking down strengths and weaknesses of both teams. I came away thinking the -2.5 is perfectly correct.

yeah but the avg fan doesnt look at games like that , the avg bettor would have expected su to be the small fav when the line opened.

Not exactly, bettors dont look at final scores , but rather the numbers and we were outplayed vs GT, but the ball bounced our way. Lines aren't premised on getting turnovers and penalties, its what you do from the LOS.

Exactly, but vegas knows we have plenty to clean up to win.

Oh, thank GOD you’ve posted the exact same thought in yet another thread for the 437th time since the last game!!

Sorry, some people just dont get it.

I think we get it. Being outgained by 100 isn't consistently a winning strategy. But it doesn't mean GT was the better team and the ball just happened to bounce our way. We made some game changing plays on D. We couldn't contain the edge rush. We either fix that with scheme, or we find out we're just too young this year and will be abused.

Good to know we have some ball hawks, and that our pass rush can be dialed up when we need it.

I do think our youth will be further exposed as the year goes on. These OC's are too smart. But it doesn't bother me that much, because the future of our D looks pretty good. It should at least be more than good enough to support the type of offense we're expecting to see.

they get it. They don’t want it, but they get it.
Not unlike water boarding.

Keep soldiering on- you’ll surely convince them on post # 439!

Both teams have a ways to go to be considered good. That’s it, that’s the whole post

The line is now down to a pick em at my book (William Hill).

Agreed, you really don't. Love how those that are the loudest about their expertise on lines, and capping are usually the most clueless on how things work.

Its really not hard for the winning team to be out gained b 100 yards in a game. Especially when said winning team's starting field position is outside their own 40 every time.

5-20 yards per drive over 13-15 possessions a game when your opponent is starting at their own 20-30 yard line.

Did the previous line consider the fact that their QB was a freshman starting against a defensive scheme he had never seen before? Vegas should have known that right, they know everything else...don't they?
