Duke QB to Miami? Resolution reached

Does not get any better. College Football player movements is getting unreal.

Duke transfer WR Cooper Barkate commits to Miami out of NCAA Transfer Portal

I for one, was hoping that Tennessee would toss their hat in the ring after he was released by Duke. Offer him $8 million free and clear, since everything else was settled. It's not like he could have signed anything binding with Miami until the courts had cleared it anyway.

Wouldn't that have been a real freaking laugher.

ACC needs to implement a rule that either prevents transfer within the league or a rule that stipulates if tampering happens with a player (frame criteria) that the school caught tampering forfeits post season revenues to the team tampered with and if multiple incidents, a prorated portion of tv contract payout. You gotta make the penalty hurt or you won't get the change in behavior.

Guessing a rule to prevent transfer within the league would get smacked down in court easily but I like the tampering penalty idea

I’m all for regulation at this point. Seems like there should be a solution that makes sense.

At least, I’m hoping the Duke settlement was large enough that, even in this Wild Wild West world of NIL/portal, it would give schools pause to go that route for poaching players under contract.

Miami was pot committed, but can they or any other school keep paying the millions in court settlements to get a player year after year?

I notice that SEC schools are not poaching from other SEC schools.
