Duke QB to Miami?

Would doing it this late in the portal period with the player under contract be tolerated in the SEC? Or is this what will push them to play conference games only as they've suggested and police tampering? I think it's been suggested earlier in this thread that Jim Phillips, the ACC Commissioner, is hiding under his bed. Would Duke sue him also for inaction?
What are they going to sue Phillips for? He didn’t write the contract. as for the SEC, they wouldn’t be able to do anything either. This is the world everyone wanted, the ability to poach a kid at the drop of a hat and a big check. This is the bed they made and they will need to sleep in it.

The world that everyone looked to has arrived, and now they're all catching vapors?
Amazing how the concept of consequences seems to be lost on so many, be it sports, politics, relationships, etc. Smdh.

People will hate Mensah, but I dont care if I am 18 or 78; if you offer me millions to break my word about where I was going to play football; I will break that word.

Well, I thought I was doing a pretty good job of understanding the inner workings of this new age, but if anyone can decipher this explanation of how this is legal, please enlighten me!

Really. So the school can just direct pay him? Not NIL, not revenue share? To use this guy’s words, this straight “compensation”. So that is the school making him an employee. Let’s open a new box from Pandora.

Duke has a lot of high powered lawyer alums at big law firms who no doubt will do this pro bono.

It’ll be interesting if they can try to sue him for breach of contract and sue Miami for interference, since he had a contract. Don’t need to win, just need to make it possible they could lose and make them sweat.

They really don't want to go to court and Duke as a school knows that. You go to court and the entire falsehood of Student Athlete is gone and here comes the Government, State and Federal for the tax dollars that the schools haven't had to pay for years.

I'm an attorney - I don't do contacts like this but off the top of my head - (1) he has a contract with Duke and (2) Miami interfered with the contract - seems plausible that Duke could sue the player to enforce the contract AND sue Miami for interfering with the contract - don't know what the language of the contract says regarding breaches - if the attorneys preparing the contract for Duke have basic common sense there is explicit language as to what happens if the player tries to opt out
