But some say Duke has his NIL rights by contract.
What are they going to sue Phillips for? He didn’t write the contract. as for the SEC, they wouldn’t be able to do anything either. This is the world everyone wanted, the ability to poach a kid at the drop of a hat and a big check. This is the bed they made and they will need to sleep in it.Would doing it this late in the portal period with the player under contract be tolerated in the SEC? Or is this what will push them to play conference games only as they've suggested and police tampering? I think it's been suggested earlier in this thread that Jim Phillips, the ACC Commissioner, is hiding under his bed. Would Duke sue him also for inaction?
I’ll bet the phones are ringing at Moore Van Allen as we speak…Duke has a lot of high powered lawyer alums at big law firms who no doubt will do this pro bono.

Yeah I am all for Miami to get torched. It's not like we are getting a share of the pie anymore.I remember Mark Richt and Miami blocking Gus Edwards from coming here because Syracuse was on the schedule that year
Indiana by 50+ please
Really. So the school can just direct pay him? Not NIL, not revenue share? To use this guy’s words, this straight “compensation”. So that is the school making him an employee. Let’s open a new box from Pandora.Well, I thought I was doing a pretty good job of understanding the inner workings of this new age, but if anyone can decipher this explanation of how this is legal, please enlighten me!

They really don't want to go to court and Duke as a school knows that. You go to court and the entire falsehood of Student Athlete is gone and here comes the Government, State and Federal for the tax dollars that the schools haven't had to pay for years. It’ll be interesting if they can try to sue him for breach of contract and sue Miami for interference, since he had a contract. Don’t need to win, just need to make it possible they could lose and make them sweat.
