Dungey is gonna explode Saturday

He is clearly injured. Some think it is a rotor cuff but I have my doubts.
Rotor cuff injuries are very painful and I don't he could pass at all if he had a tear. Very few heal with rest only. The vast majority require surgery.

I think it is something else. I hope it is something that can heal before the season ends. He deserves to play in a bowl.
Not all rotator cuff injuries are tears. It could be impingement, tendinitis, or bursitis. All of those take time to get calmed down. That's why I'm hoping we get to see a much healthlier Dungey in a bowl game after he has had about 3 weeks of rest and treatment.

it may come down to what plays are working if we can run then dungey becomes hard to stop with the qb lead plays.. if we cant move the ball in the trenches then TD might be the guy but if we are one dimensional they might throw some stuff he hasnt seen and we see issues there too.. if we mix a bit they will be forced to change schemes much faster and that may help us too. All I think we know is that if we see each guy 4-5 time and one is clearly causing more issues then we need to stick with it.

Sure. I was thinking it has to be an impact injury rather than a use or resistance against weight (lifting) causation. Rotor cuff and tendinitis are usually not a result of impact. I was thinking bone bruise or something similar.

We probably won't know for sure until the season is over. I suspect Dino will spill the beans when doing so does not put ED in jeopardy.

I think his recovery progress will play a big role in how much he plays tomorrow (if at all).

Rooting for him.

It still hasn’t been explained to me how our hurting Dungey has a completion rate of 58.6 and our great passing Devito is at 52.8.

Please don’t come back with stats cherry picked in fewer games.

First of all, Dungey's completion percentage is down from what, 65% last year?
Throw out Tommy's first game against WMU and his numbers are excellent.
It's been a long time since the season started before Labor Day.

59.7 last year so pretty much on par with this year.

When he explodes, so will the crowd.
let's not forget,Dungey is a great RPO and the defense has to repect that. No disrespect to Tommy but we have to keep the Defense thinking.

So you agree that his 51% over the last 3 games is very subpar. That’s all we’re saying.

And all I’m saying is Devito is 52% for the year is that good?

DeVito is 63 % in ACC games. Both wins. Our two best wins...

If you want to keep closing your eyes and plugging your ears on that, while thinking his combined 2-9 against Wagner and UConn in garbage time when the 2’s were in matters, well...

But not so much against ACC teams who seem to have figured out that he is injured and how to play him. NCS is very good against the rush so I guess we may see how well he does. I hope he does great, but I am afraid he is still injured.

not to mention the fact that RPO is quickly becoming the most misunderstood term on this board.

An RPO does not necessarily mean the QB is the one running. It means the OL blocks in a neutral way and the QB reads the defense, deciding whether to hand off or make a quick throw (or yes, sometimes run himself).

Dungey is not a particularly great RPO QB because he is not a particularly good decision maker. He is prone to hero ball and has a strong tendency to keep the ball himself whenever he has the option. Defenses know this.

I am afraid you are correct. They also know he is injured and can't make all the throws.

He should have played "hero" ball last week instead of giving it to Moe Neal who looked like anything but a hero fumbling untouched at the UNC goal line for the go ahead score.

Yep right as usual he should have held onto it like he did against Pitt giving up a scoop and score ... if he holds on to it they never see OT ... keep banging this drum.

First of all, thank you for calling it "rotator" cuff. "Rotor" cuff is like nails on a chalk board.
Second, my suspicion is that it is not a "tear," because he has good motion. But the motion is painful (I'm guessing here). Impingement and tendonitis make the most sense. If he gets a cortisone shot, even with a little anesthetic mixed in, it may wear off during the course of the game, especially as long as our games tend to last.
That is my educated guess. And if so, it is going to need some therapy and some rest and hopefully nothing more significant than that.

Just not true. He has been streaky, often throwing 2 or three accurate on one drive and then being way off a couple series later. Go back and watch the tapes.
Too many floaters and or in the ground you go back and watch the tape

With Dungey there is no pass option he is regressing every game wether it be because of injury or something else he is getting worse
