Eric has had 22 full drives this year. Doesn't count when he came in for Hunt or end of half kneel downs.

Of those 22, 7 TD's, 5 FG's, 1 missed FG attempts. 60% of drives ended with scores or at least with a scoring attempt. 900 total yards on those 22 possessions.

Of 9 drives that ended in punts, 6 were three and out and 3 were after at least one first down.

Of 22 drives only 7 ended in SU territory, you add that efficiency with Dixon and SU is going to win the FP battle every game.

Not one negative drive, not one turnover, and only three started in plus territory.

For a true freshmen QB, and coming off of how bad the offense was last year, that's unreal.

He is the real deal. What a amazing find.

really from the 2nd half of wake thru the CMU 1st half scored close to 40 pts and 450-500 yds of offense in his one stretch of running the whole offense. thats a 2-3 game total for some of our teams lately

Great analysis. This is why I love Lester's approach to finding smart kids to run his offense. Dungey doesn't make any glaring mistakes and even on the busted plays, he picks up 1st downs (ie. that pass to Moore in the Wake game when Lester called a completely different play). He can adapt super quickly to what is around him and can also pick up positive yards with his feet.

I cannot wait to watch him play this weekend. The kid is a stud, no doubt.

I just want him to get through the rest of the season healthy so he can pack on a few pounds and maybe even enhance his speed/agility. 2-3 more years of Dungey sounds good to me if he continues to play like he has!

this one didn't make assumptions about the future (if this keeps up, Dungey will be a pro)

Agreed great post. I think at this point we can all agree that Lester is the real deal as an OC
I think he's the real deal as an OC, but I also think it helps that he seems to have found a legitimate QB in Dungey.

Trying to come up with banner for the Dome(for Dungy). Along the lines of the famous kirby dar dar fan fan club club...so far I got nothing.

"The Sunshine Boys" or "The Sunshine Club" or "Rays of Sunshine" or...like...something to do with, I'm thinking, Sunshine?

"The Sunshine Boys: We suffer from excessive bouts of ED!"

I would hope no one is expecting this level of production and efficiency to continue when Dungey finds himself in situations where he is forced to throw the ball more frequently.

What's really funny is how many posters raised this very point last week.

Dungey is very good. With him at the helm, the offense has the potential to be extremely potent, wrack up a ton of yardage, and score a lot of points. That he's only played half of our season thus far is a reason that astute posters weren't concerned about the predictve data Go posted last week.

No question. We haven't seen enough to definitively know for sure, but Lester's ability to identify capable system fits [Dungey, Mahoney, recruits like Culpepper / Scott] and get them ready [see: Dungey as a true frosh, Mahoney playing against LSU] are encouraging early signs. It's early, but Lester is looking like a great hire.

When he was QB coach last year, I thought he was very knowledgeable and was able to communicate that on camera. I didn't necessarily think that meant he was going to be a good coach, but he impressed me in interviews.

There will be turnovers and there will be struggles. But it's hard not to like what we have going.

I also think there will be more wrinkles and formations that will be sprinkled in over the next couple weeks.

Very excited for this weekend. Just hope it's not (another) letdown time.

Agreed. We'll be playing some tough defenses, and Dungey [like all frosh] will struggle at times. But his capabilities are exponentially greater than anybody we've had post-McNabb. Sometimes in tough games, a big play or two can be enough to swing the outcome. Dungey is capable of making those type of plays.

It's funny how the response to other posts was so hysterical and it didn't even say anything bad.

Its funny that it took you 5 days to come around to the point that many of us were making on Friday.

Better late than never.

KNOCK ON WOOD.

You're assuming nothing but upside and no downside. IF he can keep playing like that, great. More like than not his performance will fall back instead of improve from that.

Doesn't solve the macro problems of not running enough plays, doing better on third down, and the yards the defense has given up.

As pointed out in that other thread I wasn't trying to predict future state, I was pointing out that if there wasn't significant improvement more than 5 wins was not likely. I never said improvement couldn't or wouldn't happen.

It's hasn't taken me 5 days, I put that disclaimer in the original post. When you are ever right about any of this stuff let me know.
