Eddie Lampkin

Eddie and Davis work a very good two-man game on the low post. They are going to be a problem for some teams. It makes me think we could run Freeman at the three opposite them with an opportunity for some reversals to get him open shots.

It is frustrating that our center is leading the team in assist, and we’d rather run our offense through him than our point guard.

I realize it’s an unreasonable and pie in the sky expectation given where things are but we need somehow for Chance to get fully fit and be able to play some real minutes at PG. I think it could massively change things if such a miracle did occur

I like Eddie.
He can damn sure back up a big player can't he?
The big guarding him looked like he was on roller skates.
Haven’t seen that happen in a very long time.
Would have loved to have been in the house with Melo and Kiyan
cheering on the team.

Eddie has more assists per game (4.8 to Carlos’s 4.0) but Carlos has less turnovers with a much better assist to turnover ratio than Eddie. Carlos has over 3.0 assists to turnover ratio which is very good for a pg while Eddie has only a 1.7 assist to turnover rate - very good for a center but not good for a point guard.
I do like that Carlos always looks ahead in transition to pass vs last year when our guards would not pass ahead and just keep the ball and dribble down the court.

To say we didn’t focus on getting a PG is just not true. We tried but failed, and we may have gotten the wrong mid major player in Carlos. There may have been others out there who could have helped us more.
He is a good backup. He just isnt tall enough and doesnt shoot that well.

Agree, think that's where we have to end up. which means we have bell and choppa at guards more or taylor up there too mixing with Bell subbing in at 3.

Lock Taylor in the gym and shoot 1000 threes. If he can be a slightly credible shooter from 3 it would solve a few big issues.

He does not need to move to fast at all to get the job done on offense. But a lower body injury, even minor, could be trouble for his quickness on defense. That being said I surprisingly liked a lot of what I saw on defense from him yesterday. He did a good job of showing help with some of the guard match ups, sometimes even fully double teaming a guard, but getting back in position to guard the 5 before they could exploit it. It was effective at preventing guards get in the lane against JJ/Carlos. And that was even after he had started limping and hobbling during breaks. I am hoping he can gut it out tonight.
Each time he moved up to help the guards I was convinced his man was going to be wide open, but he knew exactly where and when to break back to guarding his guy. Great stuff.

Barclays was electric. Reminded me of the MSG games back in the day. I'll be curious to see how many show up tonight.

Lampkin can score every single time when he gets the ball - he has so be doubled or at least crowded - if not, you are getting backed down to point blank range and he is laying it in - he is 5x stronger than Arinze - he just is not athlete and can't block shots but he boards like a beast - I guess Dejuan Blair is the closest player I can think of

lol. I like Eddie a lot. But Arinze was bigger and stronger.

At the end of his college career he was in such awesome shape. I was fortunate to go behind the scenes and talk to a strength coach who had been standing next to AO before a game. He was in a T shirt. I remarked to the coach how “built” he was and how relatively small his waist was to his chest. I was told he had really no fat and that his waist was 32 inches.
