Eddie Lampkin

Eddie has been a massive bust. Maybe it’s injuries, maybe it’s his weight, doesn’t matter, we have him for 1 year and it’s a disaster.

It's odd - I feel like as he's looked "less injured" or whatever you want to call it, the worse he's looked in every aspect of the game. His passing seems to have disappeared as well.

Agreed. The second he gets doubled he spazzes out. Not entirely sure what changed

You can thank Griff and Red for that, although more Griff.

I think the coaches fell in love with his ncaa tournament last year.. he was huge when they beat the gators..

His best year was sophomore year after TCU made him lose *70* pounds.

Last year he played with three NBA draft picks.

He has never been in shape with Cuse. He’s also been hurt.

I went to the Texas game in Brooklyn and he couldn’t walk without a limp, didn’t come out for initial shoot around and had to work on his back and legs every break. Even on Autry’s last show he talked about him having a back brace or wrap or something still.

You can see even when he runs, his gait is off.

Statistically he’s almost *exactly* the same as he was last season.

10.2 PPG this season vs 10.6 last year.
7.5 rebounds vs 7.2. 2.5 assists vs 2.2.

Minutes and FG% are almost exactly the same.

Like others said, the issue is that he was surrounded by MUCH better players last season.

Yup he is great as the 4th or 5th best player on the team. On our team he is being paid to be the best and it just hasn't worked out because he is who he is and doesn't have another level.

On our team he is getting the going rate. Jesse Edwards got the same at WV (or about) and he did not light it up. We needed a P4 point guard. We did not get one this year. We need to penetrate and kick out and how many times have we had a penetrate and dish to a cutting big man?

Amazing how being on a team with 3 guys that got drafted to the league makes you look much better than what you are

As well as playing for a good defensive coach like he did at TCU.

Every bit of this should have been obvious in the “scouting “ the staff did to consider him. He was supposedly “healthy” and clearly that wasn’t the case as soon as we saw the practice clips start flowing in. Dead horse but I still can’t get over just how large of a gap this staff had between what they were saying they had in the portal vs what they actually got.

I never saw anybody else so big play so far below the rim.

AO and RickJack were BIG dudes, and neither was an explosive leaper,
but -
they were both gazelles compared to Dry Rub.

We thought we were signing a DJ Burns knockoff,
but it now looks like we bought it from Temu.

He’s more like Monty than DJ.

Thing is, we're getting from Eddie almost exactly what he produced last year. The problem is that we've surrounded him with vastly inferior teammates. If we had Eddie on the 2021 SU team we might have been a #4 seed in the tourney. The fit now is simply awful.

For sure - that’s all part of it though in terms of scouting to put an entire team together.

Projecting Bell to be a better version of a great shooter this year, JJ to be a two way player and better playmaker, not adequately having the McLeod and Westry roster spots covered given their inability to give us anything, then of course the rest of the issues with the transfers most notably at PG.

There was too many IFs

You simply need some solid foundations to build on.

Like we KNOW so and so will play good D. We KNOW so and so can create shots for himself and get to the line.

We just had a bunch of questions and, for the vast majority of them, the answer is no.

And expecting them all to be no was not the expectation either. That’s the biggest issue here to me. If you go 50 pct then you have an NIT level team at best which still is problematic but doesn’t put you in rock bottom territory. But batting barely above .0000 is a different animal

Totally.

"Can Chris Bell get better?" was answered with "No, Actually he's worse"
"Can JJ put together a full season of 2 way ball", "No, he'll be out for a month"
