Elijah Robinson to Texas A&M

Not really. SU pushed him out of the DC position. Those schools are not considering him for DC.
We could not keep him as the DC. Also we do not have 2 million to pay him to be a recruiter and D line coach. We were able to upgrade recruiting the D line with him and Williams but it’s not like we were pulling 5 stars. Fran went out and got another great recruiter and D line coach. All in all I see this as a plus for SU.

I agree with all of that.

Hawkins was the top recruiter in the Sun Belt? Big deal. We need a completely different caliber of player than anything he was landing at Georgia State. And let’s not ignore the fact they went 1-11 and ended on a nine game skid. That won’t fly here. I hope he works out but let’s be honest. He’s not an upgrade over ERob on the recruiting trail. Not yet.
Don't you think Fran recognizes the traits of a good recruiter?

Are you really putting a team's 1-11 record on a DL coach? Was Clark Lea our problem when he was our LB coach?

Before ripping a guy, do some research. He was only at Georgia St. for one year. He was part of successful programs before going there, and, with regards to recruiting, I'm guessing Fran put more weight on his experience in player personnel at UAB and LSU. I would also think Kehres had some input and liked what he saw at EKU where the dline forced lots of negative plays while making the FCS playoffs.

Good coaches know how to spot rising coaching talent at lower levels. Everyone starts somewhere before becoming a name people recognize.

ERob may have stunk as DC here, but let’s be real. The dude was a five star recruiter trapped in a coordinator’s office. If there’s a blue chip D lineman anywhere in the SEC footprint he’s already in the living room shaking hands with grandma and leaving with a silent commit. Put him back in the SEC and he’s not a position coach, he’s a walking, talking talent vacuum that steals recruits and smiles while doing it.
Trapped?
It was the next step in his career path and the step he wanted, I get what you are saying and he might end up just being an elite recruiter and Dline coach.
I think he did not get to do as much recruiting as he would have liked to here.

Yes it is a big deal.
He has to sell the program and can't throw bags at players.
It's real old people throwin gout the team went 1-11, so our team going 3-8 is the fault of our Dline coach like Georgia St?
He plays a part in how the team does but it is NOT his record, that is on the head coach.
The Dline was the best group.
He will fit in fine here and is a bright up and coming coach that will do well.

In order for a smaller private northeast school like Syracuse to compete in this new era of college athletics, we need to use the moneyball approach. I’m all for reallocating Elijah‘s salary across other parts of the organization that need more support. Same goes for the players, we need to move on from players receiving large NIL salaries who aren’t contributing. Can’t wait to see Ricky Collins exit next.

He's pretty well connected in Georgia and we'll have to hope that is the recruiting pay off, as well as his other southern contacts he's made along the way. Maybe his recruiting game is upped when his pitch is the ACC and not the Sunbelt. That's usually how it works, Elijah Robinson became a recruiting powerhouse when he was working for Penn State and Texas A&M not Temple. It's all just hope we'll see

So much this.
Same approach with the players we spend money on. We will never be able to pull a Texas A&M and dump 5 million into the d line.

Georgia State is at a level of FBS total lack of funding that is only rivaled by ULM, every other FBS level AD has a significant amount more in funding than those 2 do

I hope Fran can pull things off, but if he wants to win an ACC Championship and make the playoffs he needs great players. He’s not going to just pluck them off trees. He is going to have to pay them. Look at all the big boys still playing in the playoffs. None of them have done it on the cheap. I’m not counting JMA and Tulane because they are going to get waxed today. SU lost Watson to Texas last year because we couldn’t pay him. He’s getting a fraction of what the big boys are getting and he barely played for Texas. We were dead last in a a bad ACC. People want to say it was because we lost Angeli. He’s only the tip of the iceberg. There are problems at every position on this team. Let’s see the calibre of player Fran brings in from the portal. We will see if SU is really serious about competing. This team needs a running back, additional quarterbacks, offensive and defensive lineman, linebackers and safeties. I hope we kill it in the portal. If we do, Fran has been hiding money under his mattress.

I don't think they update it untill he's officially hired elsewhere. Personally not a sign to me he's staying but obviously would be interesting.

I don't know if it means anything or not coaches who are fired ate usually removed pretty quickly. Of all the coaches that are gone from last year's staff the only one still listed is Robinson. I do expect him to leave but stranger things have happened. Of the new coaches announced VK is the only one listed no Hawkins no Castillo

ERob was NOT fired.

He was demoted.

So, until he’s officially accepted a gig elsewhere, he’s still employed here.

Yeah I understand he was not fired. But He's only employed here because Fran choosing to still employ him. NY is an at will employment state. when you're visiting other prospective jobs you could be fired and removed from the roster. The fact he hasn't been removed from the roster while interviewing for other jobs is a bit curious no? Are you still paying him and are you sending him out on the recruiting trail right now?

I am pretty sure he is still showing on the website because he wasn't fired and his contract probably goes to end of January. So technically he is still an employee until he actually quits for his new job or once his contract expires.

I admit I don't know football contract law but if he's under contract he should still be working for Syracuse and not out interviewing for other jobs that probably breaks the contract

I hear you but if the hiring party Syracuse is not looking to retain, my guess would be they are fine in these situations of ERob looking as long as he isn't making public statements about Syracuse, Fran, yadda, yadda. Just spitballing...

I have a tough time seeing much upside of Elijah staying.

The best play for him would be to head back to A&M and look to learn from Elko with the goal of learning how to become a true DC.

Fascinated that it hasn’t concluded yet.
