It's still pretty hard for a team of all 18 year olds to beat a team of mostly 20/21 year olds that are also pretty talented. Especially when Cal is weak at actually coaching basketball.

the eventual star players are generally ranked...but the majority of the ranked players dont live up to their rankings imo

as for UK, makes me wonder why they keep going for the strategy then...

Bazley didn’t go to G League (like he initially wanted) for fear of being exposed physically and lack of development investment.

Emoni Bates didn’t qualify for the minimum age requirement to declare for the 2022 NBA Draft. He wanted a very specific ball dominant role when he chose his transfer destination to try to improve his draft stock. Also helps that Pat Baldwin still was a first round draft pick while sucking at UW Milwaukee and having horrible athletic testing at the combine.
